Echoing a new topic over on Amiga.org, I'm wondering who has been an Amiga user for the longest time. I didn't buy my A2000 until around Sept/Oct 1987, but I've been using Amigas since about Oct/Nov 1985.
Valiant@Camelot AmigaOne XE, 800Mhz, 1GB, 9250 Radeon, OS4.1u7 Sam440ep, 666Mhz, 512Mb, 9250 Radeon, OS4.1u6 A1-X1000, 1.8Ghz, 1GB, 9250 Radeon, OS4.1x A1-X5000/40 2.2Ghz, 2GB, Radeon HD 7700, OS4.1 FE ud 2
1989 for me. A500 with an A501, shipped with KS1.3 but 1.2 floppies. I had to buy the WB enhancer package to get the 1.3 Floppies.
Can't help but feel i was duped by the dealer now, but hey I was new to Amiga and didn't know much about them then appart from what I had been reading in ZAP64.
About 1990, when I bought an A1000 from a neighbor. I opened up all of the opportunities and experience and accomplishments that I have ever had in computing by buying an old, used machine that had been in a closet.

Last evidences from Amigastuff and mags found: Around 1990. Recalling the newest game Defender of the Crown, when switched from MSX-Amstrad (+ friends C64;) Around 1987.
What is thougt to be using? I did demo the first A1000 that came to Finland around 1985. I was good friend with to local computer seller, and he asked me to show some stuff on it at a computer exhibition.
Then the university I was studying at that time, bought one from the exhibition, and I did get a position (without any payment) to keep it working. I did help some users to get to know it better, and when the first batch of A500 (OS1.2) came out, I had already my preorder in. I don't remember the exact dates, but it costed some 820 euros with a 1081 monitor. I did use it over a year, tried to find a cheap HD and memory expansion for it, and sold it at last when I got more money for it than I had used myself. With that I bought A2000 model B, later 2M memory expansion w. SCSI HD (a 80 M HD was more than my previous A500 had cost). I upgraded it until 3.1 and had 50 MHz 050/882/8M in it, A2320, RetinaII, AMaxII, A2286, Emplant, Hydra ethernet and some 500 M HD. I had used some 5000 euros for the hardware only, and I sold it with 350 euros. But ofcource I was not left without Amigas... I still have A1200/060/50, CD^32 w. FMV, AmigaOne, ...
I dont remember the dates, but I have had every Amiga released and prior to that most of the Comodores released. If I remember correctly my first computer was a PET.
Bought my first Amiga, an A500, in Dec/1988, but I >sold< them in a store for months before I could afford mine, and I had to sell my CPC6128 to get enough money.

Some folks would concider me a newbie. I didn't buy my first A500 with AdIDE and a 20meg HD add-ons until some time in 1988. I didn't even learn the Amiga existed until the winter of 1987. Ya know that awesome Commodore marketing maching getting the news out properly to the public and all.
Oh yeah, I recall I sold my C128 and peripherials to help cover the cost. Then a few years later picked up a C128D, and still have that around today.
I got my first Amiga 500 in 1990, I think... Just 512KB but I did get the 512 expansion a year later.
Then... in 1994 I spend most of my money from my confirmation party on a brand new desktop dynamite A1200 pack and an external disc drive.
Oh, and I also bought a guide to using Workbench 3.0 (a danish translation of a Bruce Smith book).
I never really used my A500 seriously but the A1200 changed everything... later it got the 1220, a harddrive, 1230, cd-rom, 603/040, 603/060... and then it got sold in 2001
