In my experience Catweasel support under OS4 is flakey at best.

On my X1000 I don't have DF0: mountlist in devs:dosdrivers as it stops my x1000 from booting. catweasel.device has not been updated by Ian in a long time. 2012 IIRC

I could never get either a 6581,swinsid or 8580 to work using VICE and pass c64 audio from the catweasel output into the X1000 audio input header on the motherboard.

I still have a MK4 in my X1000 currently populated with a swinsid, but it only ever used on the very rare occasion i need to put a floppy disk in my X1000 which is almost never.

Does AmiDVD work in enhancer 2 ?

I just get an "AmigaDOS" requester saying the process terminated without replying to the Workbench startup message, this program is probably for CLI use only.

Competition Pro Amiga v2. AmigaInput shows it as having 12 buttons, but in reality it only has 4 buttons. I guess they use the circuit board in other products with more buttons.

I too can get it to work under linux when it is initialised correctly, at power on under CFE. Its when it fails to initialise correctly after a reset or powercycle and all the Port LED's remain ON that it doesn't work under linux either. <here>

Costel did a great job fixing the RTL8169 GigE ethernet driver for 4.1 FE.
I wouldn't worry about the onboard ethernet when you can pick up an RTL8169 for peanuts on ebay.

I personally think the onboard ethernet is broken or there is a bug in CFE, but thats my opinion. If you look around the back of the machine there are times when all the LED's are on and even after a powercycle CFE can't reinitialise it and get it out of a hung state. Then all of a sudden after the next powercylce it will initialise it correctly. No pattern to it.

Llye did a great job with the onboard sound and freed up a PCI slot for which is now taken up by my catweasel MK4 and SID Chips.

MAPROM Jumper needs to be OFF
Set RAM to 70n/s

Bootloader is failing most likely because the it cant use a kicklayout file that matches your hardware as there is not one for A500
Eg Kicklayout-A1200 for A1200 or because its a developer PPC.

You could try and install it manually and modify it. rename the kicklayout-a1200 file to "KickLayout" and delete the kicklayout-3000, 4000 etc and comment out all the machine specific A1200 stuff like carddisk etc

Its unsupported hardware but saying that I have gotten OS4.1 _KickStart_ ,not WB, to boot on an A500 with a ACA500 + Non DEV BPPC

Cooler - Zalman Copper VGA flower if you can still get them. Its good and what I have here.
Be very careful when taking it appart. Add new thermal paste and check for plastic contimination. The factory left the plastic on the thermal pad on some g4 batches.

Change the CR2032 battery on the mobo whilst you have it appart.

There is an unreleased Uboot you'll now if you have it, check to see what type of harddrives are supported in the menu.

Make sure you have usb front and back turned on in uboot or stick a hub on there rear ports and put your keyboard into that.

You might have the onboard sound as it soundlike any early g4 model.
SBLive 5.1 emu10k has never let me down here.

I have a 500 watt PSU in my XE only because thats what came in the case.
Its overkill and i've had to add a few extra fans to increase the load otherwise it shutsdown because its not drawing enough amps.

Edit remember to fit the cpu cooler and secure the cpu card with nylon nuts and bolts if you have them. Last thing you want to do is short the girl out when powering it up.

Only downside is the webinterface uses flash so you cant reboot it or set up shares for family etc from an AmigaOS browser.

Your bt router is using the default ip address range by the looks of things. and the printer is DHCP so it might not always stay at .79.

The default admin page for your router is http://192.168.1.254

you can confirm that by opening the cli and typing shownetstatus or use my netup tool on os4depot (shameless plug )

put that address into owb or a browser on the pc and the homehub management page should open.

The IP address should be listed on the homepage, if not on the advanced settings under home network.

If your using a homehub 3,4 or 5 there is a little white card with the admin password printed on it attached to the rear of the homehub.

Your can force the homehub to always give out the .79 address to the printer or set the printer to static by logging into the printer at http://192.168.1.79

Forget USB with the LN model network is much much easier, plus you can stick the printer away it in another room, on another floor etc.

Factory reset it.

Plug it into your router using a normal cat5 cable.

Interigate the router to see what I.P. address has been assigned to the printer as its DHCP by default.

Login into the printer with muiowb

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the I.P address given to the printer by the router.

Change the printer to static I.P. working

download and install lpr.device from os4depot

create a file in envarc: called lpr.device

file connents are:

HOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx RAW PORT=9100

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the static IP of the printer.

open devs:NSDPATCH.cfg in notepad

add the line

DEVICE parallel.device UNIT 0 MAPTODEVICE lpr.device MAPTOUNIT 0 MACHINE=ANY

and save

move postcript from storage/printers to devs:printers

do a soft reboot

In printerprefs set parallel.device unit 0 as postcript

You should be sorted now

In turboprefs add the printer and you can set it as lpr.device unit 0 or leave it as parallel as the new style device config has taken care to the device mapping from parallel to lpr for you.

Adding a wireless ethernet bridge can make the printer wireless too.

If they are whdload versions then they will work, but I don't think the JIT will work with whdload as it turns off cpu caches and thus the JIT will be disabled.
