Re: Company<->User communication...Is it still a thing today?

@walkero

Maybe this is the last chance for some of us.

So, no speeches and no Trevor promises. Please... Only new functionalities live on AmiWest, or maybe new... hardware?

No company would rely their future on AmigaOS 4 only and what Hyperion will do with it. But they did abandon AmigaOS 4. Their next steps will show us if there is a point to continue to support it or not.

And therefore opensource for OS4 (kernel, ES code, drivers, new SDK?) may be the solution. Why keep paying (AmigaKit/Classic trade) extra for it development?

@kas1e

any opensource of any "big" amiga (and not only ?) project almost all the time mean death of project or incompatible forks,creating an unstructured and chaotic mess

And now you are waiting for drivers, patches, kernel, new gcc and adtools in people who trade Amiga Classic... OS4 is "subsidized by other parts of the business".

@walkero

We just need now to wait and see the announcements next week and what A-Eon, AmigaKit and Hyperion will do from now on.

This is the same speech by Trevor for 5 years, unfortunately credibility is... zero.

@amigakit

This is our full time employment. Classic Amiga's pay the bills and puts food on the table for our families. OS4 is such a small market that it is not possible to earn a living from it - in fact most projects run at a loss, subsidised by other parts of the business (Classic).

So why continue this? Maybe it's time for opensource? Open the GitHub / Bitbucket project for ES and forget it. OS4 community will be happy, You will have time to earn "classic" money.

@kas1e

Vim (gVim, vim/putty or MacVim) is my favorite dev editor, it would be very useful for os4. I'll keep "fingers crossed" for you.

I have two problems with NewsCoaster 1.63:

1. application and system freeze when I resize "Fetch" (download) window,

2. yellow guru and grim (http://crashlog.os4depot.net/cl44) when I close NewsCoaster. I don't have this problem when NewsCoaster is empty (fresh installation).

Versions of my MUI (NewsCoaster req.) classes:
