Many thanks, that did the job. Why is it always the simplist things that are always the hardest to find. I would never had thought of checking the tooltypes! Back to having a stress free day. Ciao, Trev Daley.

Check the main icon, 1.119 had an erronous icon in the archive which overwrote your normal one.

Hi, Ok that seems to be the problem. (thanks everyone for the icon suggestions) My icon tooltypes don?t exsist. Now I have been trying to make life easy and find the AmiUpdate archive (which I haven?t found) and cut-n-past the tool types across. Can someone point out what tooltypes I need and I?ll have to do it the hard way. Many thanks, Trev Daley.

Hi Rigo,
Speaking of AmiUpdate, I am using Version 1.120 (updated to by it?self) and since it has updated I am getting DSI errors.
I can send you GR report if you wish. Ciao, Trev Daley.
oops, I should give some more details....
Program starts up fine. Click on ?Scan? and I get GR. From then on no more GR until I restart the program (probibly because I clicked on ?Ignore DSI errors?)

Hi Guys,
Installed OS4.1.1 and have now lost all my PNG icons.
I installed the OS and no PNG icons. I then did a restore of my backup OS4.1 without overwriting any of the new files, still no PNG icons.
Any help appreciated.
Ciao, Trev Daley.

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the slow reply.
Thanks to all for the advise and help, I have decided to go with the ?Brother HL-4050CDN?. I will be getting it in a few weeks and hopefully will not have any trouble getting it working.
Now, next project, a LG W2053TQ-PF 20? Widescreen (16:9) 2ms LCD monitor.
Ciao and thanks for the help.

I haven't tried any colour laser printers with the Amiga personally, but look for printers that understand postscript. Most postscript printers should work with the Amiga Postscrpit printer drivers, whereas the other printer drivers are mostly for old printers that are no longer available.
Hans
@Hans Hi Hans, Thanks for the reply, yeah I got that much from the forums. The problem is that I haven?t found one manufacturer?s website that states if the printer is able to do postscript. I was hoping that someone may have done all the hardwork for me and have one working. Many thanks, Trev Daley.

It can?t be too old as it has only happened since OS4.1 has been out. Before that it worked perfectly (no crashes). I had lots of problems with the old 68k version, but none until now with the OS4 version. Ciao, Trev Daley.

Hi Guys, anyone else using Newscoaster and having a non-recoverable system lockup (crash, no GR).
It happens everytime the reply window opens and has only happened since upgrading to OS4.1. All other files (libs ect) are up-to-date.

Same here, re-registered OS4.0 & OS4.1 for A1 and no update files. Trev Daley. EDIT: Ok, solved the problem. Click ?Downloads? which brings you to a list of your available downloads. Click on the link that follows the yellow directory icon, this brings you to the same page. Click on the same link again, this brings you to the same page agian. This time the files will be there. Ciao. Trev Daley

Which printer?
Canon MP980, I can't find on Canon's website any info about what proticols are used. Quote: RAW=socket printing, maybe your printer supports lpd only? For socket printing: port 9100 is the default one.
I have tried most of the examples in the readme file and nothing seems to work. I tried changing my printing prefs from lpr.device to parrallel.device, but it just keeps changing back to lpr.device. Is there anything else I need to change? I'm not sure what is rejecting the lpr.device from making a socket connection. Ciao, Trev Daley.

Hi guys,
Having a bit of trouble with lpr.device. I have installed the device, made the changes to DEVS:NSDPatch.cfg and made the file lpr.device in EnvArc: with the arguments... HOST=192.168.2.9 MEMORY.
With the above I get a window popup Titled "Line printer device" which saids "Error reading "lpr.device" environment variable {wrong number of afguments)."
Later a message appears saying something about checking cables.
Any help getting this setup would be appreciated.
Ciao, Trev Daley

Hi Guys,
Finally installed OS4.1 yesterday (upgrade) and so far the main problem for me is AmiDisk.
Everytime I click on any button instant freeze, no GR, no nothing, all I can do is reset.
Anyone else get this and if yes did you fix it?
Ciao, Trev Daley.
