sam460: new uboot update to handle RadeonRX coming soon!

Thanks to Max from Acube we just few days away from the release of the new updated Uboot which will allow users at last to have UBOOT output on the RadeonrRX screens, without needs to tinker with Serial Cable anymore.

Of course, you still need to make an update manually once update out, but at least all the newcomers since that time will have no needs for, and it can be a little more appealing to get a board from Acube.

I was betatest it lately (as some other as well), and with permission from Max made a small tease video which some of you may found interesting:




On the video i show not very latest version of updated Uboot: in which there was only ext2fs support, so i had to use my trusty pegasos2 to create ext2fs on USB stick, put updater files on it, and then:



With version which will hit end-users, there are also some more cosmetic changes, but also fat32 support back : so you will be able to put files on win32 and use "fatload" command for.

Of course that all if you want USB update way, but you can go TFTP one or even CD/ISO way, as before.

Does 2015.c support Sam460ex ?

2015.b from December had problems with some Sam460ex and later it was removed from ACube website.

I have an ex and it is working. However check which version of Uboot chip you have. Mine is an ATMEL one.

That's a very slick looking uboot. I played around with a SAM a few years ago and the uboot menus were similar to the old A1XE.

Hi everyone,

i updated my Sam460LE to Uboot 2015.c which features Eprom SST chip (updated via tftp server method).
Procedure succeeded perfectly, graphic output embellished.
Now all I have to do is get a Polaris graphics card, I was thinking of a Radeon RX 560

Great stuff! I've put the Radeon RX card in my new Sam460LE just this week. So glad I'll have an easy UBoot access again

Tested also one of my RadeonHD's in : RadeonHD r7-250: (Card 0 (0): 0x1002, 0x682B, Radeon HD Verde (Mob.)) : this one works fine too. So both RX and HD cards fine (at least ones i test)

I ran the boot rom update like this.

The RX graphics card was removed, the old ATi HD graphics card was installed, where it still worked with the firmware 3.7, so U-Boot appeared, the update was carried out. Update was done, ATI HD card was taken out again and my RX 560 was installed. The U-Boot appeared my RX 560, yay.
