Re: Some news on Quake 2 Update

I now tried the Zaero Addon and I installed it with the Mission CD via the Zaero installer from OS4Depot on my Sam460. It doesn't run and the log says "Error during initialization". Any idea what's wrong here? I can provide full log if needed, but I don't see anything wrong there, just messages from LIBGL that everything is detected, initialized and opened successfully.

I heard that too, that you'll also get the classic version when you purchase the Bethesda version on gog.

Thank you for your help :)
Correct, base game and the ground zero addon run fine. It's OS4 version. If I skip the videos or not doesn't make a difference, it always crashed. It also doesn't matter wether I launch from shell with "Quake2 +set game xatrix" or via xatrix.Mod shortcut.
But I now found the solution: I looked into the crashlog generated by GrimReaper and it says that crash occured in module ref_soft.so. I already configured base game for GL4ES and wasn't aware that the add ons still use software rendering. So I changed to GL4ES and it now runs fine. Ground Zero and base game do run in software mode however.

When starting a new game in The Reckoning addon, the game crashes right after the intro videos with Guru Meditation error (of type DSI). I installed normally via the addon installer. Any ideas what went wrong? I have a Sam460 with Radeon RX550.

By the way, any experience with the DDR2 Boost option? Did anyone some Benchmarks? Experienced any instabilities?

I updated as well today. Despite the "fixed USB handling especially for keyboard support", I still can't use my Keyboard in Uboot, but that's ok. When I ever have to use Uboot again, I just use the Logitech K400.

Wow, just wow!
And please, let's all read the included readme file. Not that we unintentionally drive someone mad otherwise.

New u-boot supporting RX500 cards would be nice.

Very cool and quite interesting thanks to google translate! When I see the pictures of both boards, I must say I somehow prefer the look of a fully stocked board so I somehow adore the A1222, like the Sam460EX compared to the clean, almost cheap look of the LE ;)

The Creative Audigy FX and also the V2 are fine cards as well, but they're not listed in the MorphOS compatibilty list. Both cards have realtek chips, but I have no idea about compatibilty in AmigaOS.
The HDA driver situation is interesting. Any further infos on this?

The Envy24 series are native PCI soundchips so the PCIe cards have a bridge-chip, which is more convenient than a PCI-PCIe adapter. I know only one PCIe soundcard with a real Envy24 chip (ESI Juli@ XTe), but there are also cards with the Tremor entry-level chip (VT1723) which are way better to get. Tremor fully works with the Envy24HT drivers. Here is a list of Envy24 cards: https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIA_Vinyl_AudioI bought a similar card like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/29627151126 ... s&_ul=GB&mkevt=1&mkcid=28It's not a premium sound solution of course, but I think it's a great choice for the SAM460.

I have exactly the same problem and on MorphOS no problems with network as well! It doesn't matter which browser is used (but updating to IBrowse 3.0a is recommended anyway).
It is interesting that amiganuts doesn't have this issue with his old HDD. Maybe you can spot all differences in the configurations and test it with your new setup?

I use a 300W ATX PSU in an Inter-Tech IM-1 Pocket mATX. It's still enough for some power consuming older GPUs. If you use a modest RX550, a 200W SFX PSU will surely be sufficient. This is my SAM460LE https://dev.pyra-handheld.com/jedi23/p ... n/IMG_20231029_102305.jpgThe cables can be hidden better, but since I change GPUs for MorphOS and AmigaOS, it is tedious to order the cables every time.
