The card works on a PC, no problem here.
@sinisrus The SAM460LE has no onboard SATA, so no jumpering required.
@sailor Interesting that MorphOS won't boot with your card, SiI3132 is listed in the MorphOS hardware compatibility list. That would be a real disadvantage, so I will lose my dual boot ability!
My sytem is configured that the MorphOS boot loader either chainloads AmigaOS automatically or boots MorphOS when a key is pressed.
So the issue *could* be the MorphOS bootloader, but that would not explain why other SATA2 cards I tried even crashed the system earlier, before the HDD model was listed in Uboot! However I will try installing pure AOS on a new HDD.

I received the black SATA2 card yesterday and still get these weird error messages! But there's a difference: with this card my hard drive model is listed in Uboot and the MorphOS boot loader message starts. But then, instead of chainloading AmigaOS, these errors come up again.

I found and ordered the black card at AliExpress.
Funny, when I originally assembled my SAM460LE I used a spare SiI3112 SATA1 card I already owned and my system freezed constantly but I didn't knew the cause of this. When Max from Acube wrote that the SATA card is the culprit, I ordered one of these black SiI3114 SATA1 cards from AliExpress and the freezes were gone!
And now AliExpress saves my SAM again... But it could've saved me two times(!) a lot of trouble when the incompatibility of some cards were better documented! I think those are newly manufactured cards utilizing old stock SATA chips.

Thanks! Anywhere to order the new old stock black card? Quite interesting that you also have a not working card (assuming it's not broken). We surely need a compatibility list or something that tells us why a specific controller card won't work. @m3x can you tell which cards you guys successfully tested during development?

ChatGPT never claimed that other x86 BIOS ROMs than those from gfx cards can be emulated. It suggested to set skiprom=true or norom=yes depending on the Uboot version, but both don't work. However, since I get the same errors when jumpering one card to ignore the ROM chip (and even when I remove the ROM since it is DIP socketed), it shows that the ROM chip isn't the issue at all! I have two cards and both don't work. The top one is my old SATA1 card. I could test if they're configured to JBOD on Windows, but I guess the easiest way is that you tell me your model of your working cards @AlfredOne and @sailor and I try to acquire the same one.

According to ChatGPT Uboot tries to execute the card's option ROM which contains x86 code which triggers an illegal-instruction trap of the CPU. The solution would be to disable either the card's option ROM or prevent Uboot from executing the card's ROM. I have one card where disabling the ROM can be done by a jumper setting, but it didn't worked either. On another card I have, I don't know how to disable the ROM. ChatGPT tells me how to disable the code execution in Uboot. I will try this later and report back.

Did anyone try to actually use a SiI3132 SATA2 controller card yet? I tried two different cards but I only get cryptic error messages in Uboot, even when no device is attached to the controller. Of course I already flashed UBoot 2015.d and installed the new driver in AmigaOS 4.1 FE Update 3. Am I doing something wrong or is the SAM just picky about the controller card? The output is like this.

Thanks for clarifying Hans. Great job and thanks to Max as well. Acube's dedication is priceless! This is way more important than having the fastes system with bad/no support. So when can we expect a public release of this driver?

@Hans Quote: It's a Sam460 limitation. The Sam460 doesn't have cache coherency. I tried doing manual cache flushing everywhere where it's needed, but couldn't get it working. It would always lock up.
It's unlikely that we'll get it working.
EDIT: That said, it may still be possible to get a performance boost. We've hit some kind of performance wall, even with GART support. When we finally figure out what's going on, there's a chance we'll get a boost even without GART.
Hans
(from post #264) Since quite some time has passed, any new insights about what's going on? What is this performance wall about?

I now tried the Zaero Addon and I installed it with the Mission CD via the Zaero installer from OS4Depot on my Sam460. It doesn't run and the log says "Error during initialization". Any idea what's wrong here? I can provide full log if needed, but I don't see anything wrong there, just messages from LIBGL that everything is detected, initialized and opened successfully.

Thank you for your help :)
Correct, base game and the ground zero addon run fine. It's OS4 version. If I skip the videos or not doesn't make a difference, it always crashed. It also doesn't matter wether I launch from shell with "Quake2 +set game xatrix" or via xatrix.Mod shortcut.
But I now found the solution: I looked into the crashlog generated by GrimReaper and it says that crash occured in module ref_soft.so. I already configured base game for GL4ES and wasn't aware that the add ons still use software rendering. So I changed to GL4ES and it now runs fine. Ground Zero and base game do run in software mode however.

When starting a new game in The Reckoning addon, the game crashes right after the intro videos with Guru Meditation error (of type DSI). I installed normally via the addon installer. Any ideas what went wrong? I have a Sam460 with Radeon RX550.

I updated as well today. Despite the "fixed USB handling especially for keyboard support", I still can't use my Keyboard in Uboot, but that's ok. When I ever have to use Uboot again, I just use the Logitech K400.
