Re: Release 4.1 [460LE vs A1222]: The Price of Admission
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

SAM460LE is a bigger (worse) SAM460CR, which costed less than 500 euro and is 10 years old. For me 900 euro is no go. SAM is too old, too weak and too expensive. Thats why I think A1222plus is a better option (if its crippled CPU performs acceptable). X5000, especially x5000/40 costs "only" twice as much but performs many times better. As long as we can't get a cheaper, entry level machine our community will not grow. For me 500 euro is a max for a "toy".

BTW. It looks that ports of modern games and apps require the power of X5000 which makes the purchase of SAM460 even less meaningful.

Re: Enhancer 2.2 Video Playback Problem
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@Spectre660

I bought ES2.0 and got free ES2.2 updates. I have a nice W3DNova but no UVD. Meanwhile, RX owners got W3DNova plus UVD for the same price. The cost of developing the UVD for the RX was partially funded by customers owning RadeonHD. This is what I'm trying to say.
The wiki / Amistore info was talking about machines that support PCIe. There is no roadmap or who gets what, and no honest information about upcoming features.
As far as I remember, AEon was selling Amigas with RadeonHD cards? It seems that they are trying not to inform in order not to harm the sale.

@amigakit

I understand that development costs are higher than return on sales, but you should communicate precisely with us, your customers. By purchasing the ES2.0, RadeonHD users helped to develop the RadeonRX driver. Now we have to pay for RHDv5 again. Buyers of Dvplayer were promised a discount.... Just read other places. People get frustrated at any such additional costs. IMO, System54's chances of success are lower than ever. But hey, I'm ready to pay for the RHDv5 driver again. I was told MAYBE the SAM460 version would work with my SAM440 & HD7750. So if this fails, will I get a refund? OR maybe someone could send me a driver to try?
Im quite happy with ES1.X and ES2.0 so far. The ability to use UVD is cruicial while waiting for some newer hw.
I asked this a second time. Hope to get an answer

I've tried ScummVM with ES2.1 and now with ES2.2.
There is no gain in speed (11-20 FPS) but invisible surfaces and glitches had gone now, great.
However, while Grim runs better, Escape From Monkey Island refuses to work. It runs fine with 2.6 from April (with one warning) but now there is a second message "game id not supported".

There is no SAM440 on the list. Does it mean my SAM440&HD7750 has no chance to get UVD support? What about V4, any chance to test on my HW or do anything to get UVD?

Wazp3D did the trick enough to see that game starts. Intro is OK and the rest of the game has wrong colors and is sloooow. But it works

ScummVM&Grim Fandango
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi,
I bought GF Remastered and then realized it is not supported. I hope they will add it later.
Grim Fandango (original) runs fine on my PC laptop but does not start om my SAM440&HD7750. It complains about lack of "grim-patch.lab" file but there is no such file on my PC. Here is a list of files in my SAM directory:

CREDITS.LAB DATA000.LAB DATA001.LAB DATA002.LAB
DATA003.LAB DATA004.LAB gfupd101.exe GRIM.EXE
GrimFandango.EXE MOVIE00.LAB MOVIE01.LAB
MOVIE02.LAB MOVIE03.LAB MOVIE04.LAB VOX0000.LAB
VOX0001.LAB VOX0002.LAB VOX0003.LAB VOX0004.LAB
YEAR0MUS.LAB YEAR1MUS.LAB YEAR2MUS.LAB YEAR3MUS.LAB
YEAR4MUS.LAB

I found such file on a github but then ScummVM 2.5.1 (default setings) "failed to create MiniGL context". If I change to OpenGL graphic ->"OpenGLGraphicsManager::endGFXTransaction: Could not load any graphics mode"
Files veryfication went fine, other games runs. Any help?

Hi, I have two crashes with Emotion player. Both easy to reproduce. The first one is skipable.
First one is when I try to tick "Hide window border" and then "Window on Top"
It's OK on X1000 and X5000:

@Amigo1

The price is over 88 euros plus taxes and my concerns have nothing to do with the X1000. 3D Nova is fun but has limited use due to the lack of 3D software and the nature of my very poor hardware. The reason I decided to buy the ES2.0 was the UVD support and respect for the developers. I knew this was only for Polaris cards, but I was hoping that the SI cards would be added later.
Looks like I'll have to buy a full V54 just to get that goddamn UVD.
All this means that when I bought the ES2.0 I got much less than the Polaris users.
