Ooo4Kids on all Amiga NG ?

Hallo everyone,

As you maybe know, Ooo4Kids (OpenOffice.org for Kids) is planned to be ported for the X-1000. My question : even if I will buy surely the X-1000, does anyone know if Ooo4kids will or should work on other Amiga NG (A1, microA1, Sam, etc.) ?

I've downloaded the PC version and the actual version is the 0.95x. It seems a good compromise : lighter than OpenOffice but full functional. Compatible with Ooo files format and MS Office. It includes (always talking about PC version) a writer, drawing tool, presentation and a spreadsheet (no data base). It's about 80MB "only"... hmm... .

You are wrong, Oo4Kids is being ported to OS4 *not* the X1000. The only relationship between Oo4Kids & the X1000 is that Trevor D was involved with getting both going.

P.S. I wouldn't the port to be done any time soon.

It's a *big* task - I wouldn't expect anything before 2011.

Not sure that there will be any news at all :) Strange why for port we choice that developer, who know nothing about.

Getting new external developers is a great thing, if they are able to finalize the port.

I hope he get's plenty of help from some OS4 developers so he doesn't get stuck on problems that would be simple platform specific matters to others.

Ooo4Kids will be a great asset to AmigaOS, it's not impressive by name but in reality I think it does what 90%+ of users need.

Again I hope the developer gets help, if needed.

If i remember right, someone in some topic (back in that time when Trevor say about all of this), say, that already give all the help to the porter and nothing else is need it. Maybe port-worker just not update www by news ..

There's no news because there are others things taking place before starting working on it i.e the port won't start with OOo4kids as it is now.
And it's just too early for any help from an Amiga developer .

Seeing as the last 10% tends to takes 90% of the time (!), you couldn't even extrapolate a time estimate even if "75%" was true...

I know you have been the one behind this initiative and thanks for the honest feedback. Last night I installed the package on my PC and barring the databes program I cannot see much of a difference with the full package. This would be more than nice on AOS4.

I hope the developer sees us as kids!
