So sorry for the delay, have been neglecting the Amiga community for a long time because of priorities (and a total lack of time). Interest is also at lowest point since 1988 since I just got an unstable/non working A1 that really really need to be replaced with something else soon..
Hyperion does have source code and the rights to develop AmiPDF further. There just isn't any pressing need to do much with it.
I'm sure looking at it from your perspective with a long todo list there isn't a pressing need. IMO that doesn't mean it couldn't see improvements, bugfixes or a total replacement
What's the name of that cooler, does it mount without modifications?
Personally I also managed to get my XE back in business over Christmas. Needed a new power supply and some other RAM modules (2x256mb) to become stable again. Current RAM is only stable at 100Mhz though, so at some point I need to track down a single 1 gig mmodule that's usable at 133Mhz.
But it's nice to have it working and fully updated again.
@Mikey Sad as my A1 is dead and I'm not likely to get another desktop computer ever again.
Well, I might get a SAM for my company but I had really really hoped we would have a portable device by now, and I would have preferred something more powerful/usable than the Limebook.
Makes you wonder if the money spend on building the X1000 HW and software support couldn't have been spent (and recouped) better on an AmigaOS4 port to readily available hardware everyone can afford.
I'm really looking forward to see this netbook available. I would probably have got it anyway, but since I'm without a working OS4 system for some months now it would be nice if it was available soon.
On the other hand if the waiting time results in better specs. I'm ok with that as my biggest worry was the slow (rumoured) CPU.
