Well if we did lose him it will be a big loss. We lost Detlef and now, maybe Joerg...
Every loss of active and productive developer hurts. And that is not only for OS4, but for any smaller project where there is a limited pool of talent.
I guess Porthan is Itix (on that irc log) because he uses that name on amigans.net. I would take any such comments from M-OS crowd as an attempt to make fun of Amiga community.
Rock lobster bit me, so excuse me. X1000 + AmigaOS 4.1 FE "Anyone can build a fast CPU. The trick is to build a fast system." - Seymour Cray
I think however that Joerg was free to drop AmigaOS when it wants it but... At least he must comunicate to the community that...many of us have donated to him and I think he at least have to do an offiicial comunicate for greetings reasons...
I was under the impression that J?rg was working hard on finalizing the OS4.1 update. Also, with the announcement on FireFox, I thought he was part of that effort, with his expertise in porting stuff from other platforms. And thus, it didn't make any sense to continue working on OWB.
It made perfect sense to me, but all doom gloomers seem to think otherwise...
When the amiga community don't earn news from some of their best programmers (an example), we could become verry stressed
Of course, the same for all important and key persons on AROS, AOS3,MORPHOS,...
(hum, hard too xplain for me in english because too early this day).
I remember beginning of this year, around sputnik AOS4 bounty redistribued, jorg said he receive enough money for the moment and we should give money to another developpers. I don't think the lack of money for OWB development is a reason, and if he need some money, just ask us

I'm sure Joerg is well aware we'd like to know why he has "disappeared" from the OS4 scene, and I expect he will tell us when he is ready & able to.
Maybe he is suddenly out of a job, or has family problems, etc, and has to concentrate on these "real world" issues for a while? Maybe he doesn;t yet know when (or if) he can come back, and so says nothing?
Maybe he is burnt-out & needs a break from coding? Maybe he doesn't know when (or if) he will want to come back, and so says nothing?
Maybe he is working with Hyperion on their top-secret project? Then he probably can't say anything until it is announced! Certainly he would be bombarded with email/etc if he did say he was working on it...
Solie has told us he is basically ok, so I think that is probably all we are going to get for the moment...
