Please let us know when you get a reply. I've sent an e-mail myself the other day about a failed purchase in AmiStore, but have not received an answer.
It is great news! I'm glad that I could be helpful! RadeonHD, oh I was thinking your target will be RadeonRX. But I want to know what connection for video do you use HDMI/DVI or maybe VGA? VGA is the last one that I have not checked and HDMI/DVI was not working for driver RadeonHD v5.14 instant freeze after boot to the desktop. So it was the straight way to RadeonRX and it's ok.
For which application did you send an email to Amikit, because I bought AmiPhoto like several of us and did not receive a serial number!
I sent an email to Amisphère (no response for more than a week!) as well as to Alinea-Computer who replied to me that Alinea-Computer had provided serial numbers for AmiPhoto but Amistore did not provide them not!
Apart from collecting the money that's all they do!
Same for the Hyperion forum, I would like to participate in the forum but no response even with registration!
If anyone here has contact with all these people, it would be nice to give a kick in the anthill to let them know that I think a lot of people will arrive with the A1222 and the X5040 like me!
Please, do somebody have information about possibility of RadeonHD for A1222+? As Hans suggested, I asked several times on A-Eon/Amigakit public contacts, also on AAA Technology where I buyed my A1222+ with no answer.
Or please, if somebody have private contact to A-Eon or Amigakit, can you ask them and let me know information by PM?
I am now testing A1222+ for my new article, and for example HD Southern islands cards can be used with linux and AmigaOS, but without RadeonHDv5 there is no video acceleration.
Maybe RadeonHD v5 for A1222+ will never exist, but such info is also valuable.
AmigaOS3: Amiga 1200 AmigaOS4: Micro A1-C, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos II, Sam440ep, Sam440ep-flex, AmigaOne X1000 MorphOS: Efika 5200b, Pegasos I, Pegasos II, Powerbook, Mac Mini, iMac, Powermac Quad
Forget about VDPAU acceleration with Radeon HD Driver 5.x, it doesn't work as expected.
Hans never managed to find where the problem is but with an AmigaOne X1000/X5000, you will never achieve more than 720p videos (and there should no be too many movements in the video or it will stutter). And 720p videos are already playbale with CPU only on X1000/X5000 so useless using it.
I bought Radeon HD Driiver 5.x for X1000 and for Sam460 but I quickly replaced my SI cards for RX ones and it changed everything regarding video acceleration.
The only advantage of buying the Radeon HD driver is to support Hans' work on everything else.

Yes I know. X1000 is capable to play such videos on CPU only. But v5 has also GART, which improves games performance. And X1000 cannot use RX cards for firmware output + bootmenu, i need it for dualboot with linux. I have there HD7970 card + RadeonHD v5, it works fine.

This is also relevant reason. On A1222+ I need Radeon v5 for similar reason like with X1000 - RX card is not supported by linux, so HD7xxx is only possibility how to use both systems. And A1222 without Radeon v5 can play 720p videos only with framedrop. So v5 should be fine.
I can understand that it's not worth releasing Radeon v5 for A1222+ - there are few customers. But I'm just a bit disappointed that no one is answering questions. And answer can be very simple: RadeonHD v5 for A1222+ ( is in plan for (near|far) future | was cancelled | was not developed )

It's a Sam460 limitation. The Sam460 doesn't have cache coherency. I tried doing manual cache flushing everywhere where it's needed, but couldn't get it working. It would always lock up.
It's unlikely that we'll get it working.
EDIT: That said, it may still be possible to get a performance boost. We've hit some kind of performance wall, even with GART support. When we finally figure out what's going on, there's a chance we'll get a boost even without GART.

(from post #264)
Since quite some time has passed, any new insights about what's going on? What is this performance wall about?
My experience with my SAM460 ( all Radeon drivers in SAM have GART disabled at least today ) RadeonHD v5 drivers provide better compatibility with some SI cards than before not works good like my old Radeon SI Orland chip R7 240 ( with v5 really works good ) and add video hardware accelerator for playing 720p ( only if yo have DVPlayer or Emotion ).
In my experience if you have a good compatible SI card for RadeonHD3.x drivers ( like 7750 , R9 250, usually Cape Verde series ) I'm not appreciate more fps or performance with V5 , only video accelerator for 720p. For me RadeonV5 add better compatibility with SI card series than before not works at 100%. After some time I'd upgrade to RadeonRX without problems, RadeonRX drivers works really good and add video decoding for 1080p.
SAM460 have a base problem with CacheL2, this cache is disabled too for stability reasons, In Acube and OS4depot you have a small app to enable L2cache of SAM but system can be hang easly. I'm suppose this base problem of CacheL2 of SAM is the reason because Hans disable Gart for graphic card. No cache L2 and no cache for graphic card (GART) are two hit points that make SAM460 not run at 100% speed of hardware. If Hans can resolve the coherence problems of caches, SAM computers can run at least 30% more for CPU and maybe more in graphic area.
I think the right way to fix this problems is update kernel for SAM system made by Hyperion in 2010 ( more or less ) but at this dates I don't think anyone is available to revise and fix this old kernel. Maybe Acube need recode fpga or cpld code to fix, really I'dont know.
In short, the fact that the RadeonHD drivers in SAM don't have GART isn't Hans's fault; it's a core problem with the SAM. If Hans manages to solve the GART problem, then he'll have solved the main cache coherency problem that SAM has had since its inception.

Regarding the problem with the Amigakit and Aeon support emails, it's true, it seems like no one checks email. My experience is that when I use Amistore and everything works well, it's wonderful, but if something goes wrong with a purchase or I need to contact Aeon or Amigakit for some support reason, I have to keep sending emails and emails, already angry, until one day someone responds or not. I think this is a very big flaw that they should address.
Several months ago, I emailed Amigakit and Aeon to request information about purchasing an X5000 because there wasn't a price or the item for purchase on the website. I've never received a response to those emails.
In short, if you can make your purchase through the Amigakit website or Amistore automatically, everything is fine. By the time you need to contact someone, then you have a serious problem.
For these reasons, I try to avoid buying their products directly. I prefer to go to a distributor who will at least answer my questions and reply to my emails.
I have nothing personal against Aeon or AmigaKit, on the contrary, I am very grateful for the products they offer, and support that give to some developers, but my experience is trying to deal with them is always a pain.
Another thing that not understand is if they have products like driver for RadeonRX little, why not include in install CD or provide a public link for download?. If Radeon v5 driver for A1222 it's available why not insert in Amigakit web store for buy and in AmiStore as a product the same week/month they receive final release?.
Sometimes I think they not have interest in AmigaNG products, but at the same time, A1222+ release and I see that Hans and others receiving support to continue developing products. Their behavior is so erratic that it really confuses me.
