While I won't quote from the errata, I don't mind linking to a thread which illustrates some of the issues: GX

A bit noisy there (as usual), but some relevant points can be filtered out.

Now back to waiting for the reply from ACube, working week starts tomorrow....

Thanks again,
Jack

the chip runs @1.64 v @ 2ghz so would be cooler than my current 1ghz A1 CPU

Thanks for sharing this. It would be a nice upgrade, huh!!

Hi poweramiga,

Wait, a G4 running at 2.0 GHz? I thought the fastest, not overclocked they made was 1.7 GHz? So, do you know if this is overclocked or not?

Also, thought the voltage has to go up at higher clock speeds?

no, since there are some expansion cards for PowerMac that run a G4 1.8Ghz without problems (i must buy a dual g4 for my powermac... )

I do know that ack had a couple of cpu modules working & he gave a lot of info on the design in irc. He had a 750GL G3 @ 1.2GHz that would have cost around $250US. I would jumped all over that it they ever become available. Adam seems to have gone into hiding as of late & the status of his cpu modules is un-known.

Where is the clock frequency generated on the micro? I see 2 crystals on the board, but my docs don't mention any settings above 933MHZ. Will any A1 support a 1.7GHZ cpu? If so, what is the upper limit?

I'd like to know as well what happened to those CPU modules Adam announced. He can't say that there are license issues with Amiga Inc. since you don't need a license for CPU modules.

The last thing that I heard was that he had problems to get them running stable.
Another thing I could think of (speculation) are supply problems of parts/CPU's.

Ssolie should know more I think.

It's possible to clock higher than that, i have to check the manuals when i get back to home....

At the moment Max has found existing jumper combinations to run the 7457 at 1.1, 1.3 and 1.5 GHz although at 1.5 we are again talking about overclocking which is not recommended. This was on my module for my XEG4. I don't know what the situation will be for micros as I don't own one.

That would be overclocking btw. Maximum is 933 (GL).

Are you sure about 1.3GHz? According to the table here, there's no such number. And all the possible combinations are covered. There're 1067, 1133 and then 1533.

I have checked the manual, and my (?A1-C Mini-ITX PPC Board Documentation)
tells me that multipliers are from 4x to 8x with step 0.5x. so its from 533 mhz up to 1066 mhz,

Of cource there might be more that manual doesnt tell..

How many dip switches are there on your module?
4 switches on A1G4 module give 4^2=16 possible settings. Not evenly spaced multipliers though. And isn't your G3? I don't see the connection...

There's no such thing as G4/G3 shortage now. Other parts: I doubt (but that's my opinion only). The problem is that Adam is the only one known to have new modules design atm, and he's AWOL from the scene now. Luckily there are news on ACube repair service that seems to materialize soon (stil looking for that queue)

On my module (G3) has those multipliers 4 plus 1 (JP1 open or short)depends frequency i choose... But this is far as my manual tells...

And what comes into my last post regarding max frequency

I might have misuderstunded what does he (sundown) mean....

Please correct me if i have done so...
