Re: THEA500 Mini

@NinjaCyborg

There is a lot more information about licensing and the game developers here:

Interview posted the day of the release

In short:
"I’m also the licensing director for Antstream Arcade, so I have spent lot of the last 25 years licensing retro content."

And as far as the "owner" side goes:
"The interesting bits, the bits that make the Amiga, the Commodore 64, the VIC-20, etcetera, work are 100% percent owned by Cloanto Corporation in Italy."

@sailor

I see another of your postings on Hyperion's forum:
"I tried many graphic cards (PCI, AGP, PCI-e) in PCI slot, because onboard Radeon 7500 have only 32MB, which is big limitation."

Micro only came with Radeon 7000. Did you really have a 7500?

And as you discovered, you can not replace the graphics. In fact that "2nd" uboot mentioned might have been the one that was a tradeoff that allowed for a graphics card, but you lost other things like USB etc. Therefore it too was never issued officially.

Regarding your posting about reversing the XE "fix", I suggest an XE owner should respond. Basically the "fix" was ruled not the best of ideas in the end.

@sailor

"for parts"
That makes sense since the experimental uboot was installed by someone who was doing repairs on Eyetech AmigaOnes.

One of the Friedens gave some advice during the last uboot update for the Eyetech AmigaOnes. Basically if you were not experiencing problems you need not update.
I think this advice held true for the Micros in particular, since no two Micros were alike.
You have FX processor? Most had GX.

So, unless someone posts here indicating possible issues using your V1.2 on the Micro with your configuration, I don't think you need consider rolling back to an earlier version of uboot that was official.

@sailor

Replying to your question on the Hyperion forums:
Uboot 1.1.1 Mar 3, 2005 is the latest.
The confusion around March 3 vs March 5 is merely release date of the March 3 version.

I see you mention V1.2? for your Micro.
There is NO official release V1.2.
You might wish to ask if others know of any issues with this version, which -was- experimental but nevertheless installed on some machines back then .

Best wishes,

Then this is probably not for you either, although it is somewhat on topic for Amiga and games:

This also would tie in with your first paragraph?

It was always presented as a means of protection, no?

@Joerg

Productive conversation imo.

Maybe it is just me, but "I guess" in refernce to your belief the other former devs might be in the same position...

I do wonder if any of them would also step forward and state facts and propose solutions?

Regardless, thank you for doing so.

@thread

Usual issue. Multiple topics in the same thread.

If we stick to the X5000 offering, the news item seems clear.
The dealers are offering a system with the correct version of AmigaOS -for- that system.

Since the offerings might vary slightly (think peripherals included here), it might help if someone compiled a short list with appropriate contact info.
That way prospective buyer can more easily see which system suits them best.

@redfox

You were referring to what Joerg said. Sorry.

I can not state whether it is an "issue".

I only know that after 4.x income was not really a valid discussion point anymore, but 3.x -was-....

I mentioned some concern (knowing these people) that they might try to backport. I was assured this could/would/should (take your pick) never ever happen.

Naturally shortly thereafter appeared the posts on EAB about backporting. No one tried to hide it. It's all public information on the website.

@redfox

I do not see reference to that in the article.

I see "includes a digital copy of AmigaOS 4" in one spot and

I see "somebody who has access to valid OS4 licenses" in another.

In regard to my post #36 asking about license, nevermind.

I see there are new X5000 systems listed in several places for sale with license now.

@amigakit

Question:

Given you have distanced your company from Hyperion, including removal from your website in recent times of the Hyperion products:

Can the A1222 (Tabor) even be sold/distributed through any means without Hyperion's AmigaOS4.x based on any binding agreements currently still in place?

Thank you.

re: "As much as I know there is a trial on that."

Source

No.

There is a difference between preparing for trial and the fact that a trial will take place.

Motions that have still -not- been ruled on by the court will determine which way this proceeds.

note:I'm posting here because I wish to observe and honor the statement of intent of this website.
