Re: We so need an updated browser!

The entire internet is run by, retrieving files that are on distant hard drives to our computer and then running them.

I've said before, we have everything necessary to just make our own standards as far as "HTML" page layout and displaying goes.

We should start operating an "AMIGA underground network" that only we can access.

In this case, NOT "keep up with the Jones'".

2,500 Euro?.... HOLY CROW!

That is ~$3,691.50 Canadian, and who knows how much more the criminal governments will tack on in import charges to boot (not even going to mention the extortionate shipping charges. Hmmm, I just did).

Nonetheless, if I had the money, I'd buy the quad-core that they are going to release later, as this is not money that that I would be unwilling to part with as I've spent more than that in the past on a single computer purchase. However, I'm not sure that I will ever in my entire life see that much money again, all at once in one place that belongs to ME!!!!

So, it might just not happen. (((

I highly encourage that anyone that can participate in the resuscitation of AMIGA, please, please do!

The supreme dominance of win-dos seems to be crumbling because people are switching to, seeing that desktops aren't as necessary anymore, tablets and cellphones that can nearly do everything. But I know that a market for desktops will remain for many many years into the future as tablets and cellphones are more like "toy computers" because they control YOU and the WAY that you compute (if you can call it that on those things).

win-dos will still make and be worth billions and billions, but let's do anything that we can to fragment them further into oblivion!!!!

Hi Dandy,

Thread$ ="Is the pre-order for X5000 going to start?"

Here http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/v ... 140&viewmode=flat&order=0

Man, I would buy one in a SECOND if I could afford it. Won't have enough for a LONG time, as things are going for me now. ((

I't going to be EXCELLENT, though.

Hi K-L, and All Others....

Resized Image

Just look at all those SUPER COOL AWESOME DUDES keeping AMIGA alive in 2016+!!!!!

I really really appreciate any and all of the peoples' out there efforts in this thing that we are gravitating to after all of these years, through the thick and thin. To see that how awful things were at many points, and yet persevere on we do.

Let's keep Amiga alive.

Will get an X5000 as soon as I can get some money together, never doubt it about me.

Hope one day to make it to one of the shows. Keep up the good works.

Re: Is VOiP Available For AOS4?

Hi ChrisH,

I'm really concerned about AMIGA, and pretty much despise all other so called "OS"'s (a non-exhaustive list, win-dos (ANY version), os(u)x, isos, linux, andruid). In fact, I'd like to see an "AMIGAFIED" section of the internet made. All that is on the internet is just files. So, there's no reason that all text and sound and image and video files that people (Amigans) make couldn't be stored in Amiga's formats on their websites, and an AMIGA web browser that doesn't really concern itself with the other stuff that's out there, and not worried about how it's displayed. An Amiga only web browser is what I would like to see. Although, it should be easy to have text only of the other websites out there in that browser.

My idea is for AOS 1.x to 3.x and AOS4.x.

A version COULD be made to use on win-dos (and others) though. It really wouldn't be too hard after the initial code is made for Amiga.

Hi pjs,

I'm an "ideas" guy. I can't code this, although, some of it I could do if I had AMOS Pro up and running. There is a part I'm not sure how to do, or if it's possible at all to do with AMOS, but the bulk of it could be done in AMOS.

Yes, Amiga specific and voice only of course.

Free long distance voice calls on AMIGA isn't interesting to you?

Hi Fairdinkem,

At the time that I originally posted, I don't think that Skype was able to do video calling.

I was meaning VOiP, strictly, as in audio. If someone wants to write it, I have an idea (since a while back).

PM me.

Isn't there a 3.5 mm audio jack on every audio card, and can't that input be digitized (on an AmigaOne AOS4.x)?

Can I bring up a possible program for porting over to AOS4.x?

If this is the wrong place to mention it, I'll delete my post.

It's called InkScape and is a vector drawing program.

It was discussed quite a while ago on AmigaWorld.net.
Look here.

I can't recall what my X1000 achieves, but I guess it was at least a little higher.

Hi ChrisH,

WHEW!!!

Well then, AOS TRUMPS win-dos, as per usual.... And that's using a 533 MHz CPU?? L.O.L.!!!!

Seriously, I only use win-dos because of the amount of games on it, otherwise, I find it to be insanity inducing garbage.

I intend to get a X5000, as soon as I can find a way to do it.

Thanks for informing me of that, ChrisH.

I can see that it was premature to start this discussion here, it's just that I saw them talking about it on another message board where I am banned, so I brought it up here.

So, this isn't the 4 core AmigaOne that's for sale yet, I take it?

Although I cannot afford it at this time, I would desperately love to buy one in the future (quad core model, of course). I'll start saving now...

Hi Deniil,

WOAH!

That is PAINFULLY slow (in both block sizes)!

What are read times?

I don't get it. Is this because of AOS4 not being 64 bit yet? Is a SSD much faster than that?

My 4 core i7 (2600), 3.4 GHz with 32 Gigs of RAM, windos7 64 bit OS does, on an SSD rated at 450 MB a second reads at,
Starts at 170 MB a second (seen flashes as high as 400MB, ONLY on *first time* file transfer from when I boot up computer, at start of transfer)....
which within 4 seconds drops to 120 MBs a second, then proceeds to slow down to 80 MBs/Sec in about 15 to 20 seconds, then the speed just keeps dropping over time. In about 3-5 minutes it goes down to 60-55 MBs/sec. and just keeps getting slower. I've had it down to 45-40 MBs/sec. .... and it never goes back up, after that. This is when I transfer 1+ GBs at a time. Say, I transfer ~4 GB of files. Then any time after that, other large amounts, it continues from the "new low" and proceeds to set "NEW low" records.

win-dos is BROKEN!

I haven't experimented, but it SEEMS that if I use ms-dos command prompt to copy files, that it doesn't slow down. (I wrote a batch file that moves a program I want to use into a RAM: drive.) However, it's too painful to use that primitive, compared to AOS, "shell".

I think that the driver software for the hard drive controller is lacking in AOS4's case here, causing the slowdown.

I've been working with DarkBASIC Professional for the last 3 months, and it's probably the CLOSEST to AMOS Professional that exists in the world.

I feel that ANYONE can be taught how to write computer code in AMOS Professional.

DarkBASIC, is close enough, if you can't get your hands on AMOS Pro.

I've seen some code that is in AmiDARK, and, well, it doesn't look like I can use it. Even if it's free. Unless someone writes a program that can convert my DarkBASIC formatted code into AmiDARK formatted code, that is.

I am very grateful that the Amiga community exists.

It's sad, that there are 7,000,000,000+ people out there, and that they can't see what's going on around them.

I think that we are a group that believe in certain principles and are prepared to sacrifice 4 it.

I'm never going to lose that.

Prepared to go it until the last computer I have doesn't work any more and they're not being made any more either*.

There's no reason that we shouldn't reward those that are putting in effort, if we can't do it ourselves.
