Tried to install pc-task in my Sam OS4.1 but it didn?t pass from first screen (where we config drives) does pc-task runs in OS4.1? I read in Amiga.org that it runs in classic with PPC OS4 but need to change the locale to one that doesn't use the euro-symbol
Haven't tried it on a Classic + PPC, but it certainly won't run on an AmigaOne or Sam. Since it needs RW access to the zero page vectors, I doubt it would run on a Classic, either.
I've been using it on my A1 and it works, I didn't install it though but copied it from my a4k. I've only used the JIT version (dynamic compilation) but I can't recall if I've tried it with update 2. It did work with update 1 one though.
Your best bet is to get someone friendly to make you a PC-Task Hardfile with a CD-ROM driver (PCTCDROM.SYS) installed, so you can boot it and access your CD-ROM drive... I may be able to have a go when I'm less busy, if it helps....
no it works.. unfortunatly i am not able to tell you all the setup but here runs fine.. my sam is broken and until Acube fix it i cannot help you.. the problem with pc-task is the df0: but you can emulate the df0 with diskimagedevice and an adf bootable disk..
@Spirantho Thanks for your offer but I will try to get some kind of drive emulation so I can read Dos disks
@Elwood I have OS4.1 and my PCTask runs ok but I desabled parallel and serial ports, Extended memory = 32768 and in Advanced Video Options put Window and Graphics Update = Immediate SVGA 2Mb 640*200*16
No it's not added to the petunia list. Like I wrote I can't recall if I tried PC-Task with the latest update and I won't be where my A1 is for a while so I can't check anything. I know that it works with both petunia on and the dynamic compilation version of PC-Task 4.40.
You may well find that you can't get it to run with an actual drive. PC-Task expects there to be a trackdisk.device for its handling of DF0:. I think you may be able to specify PC0: but I'm not sure about that.
It's possible that you may be able to get it to work with a Catweasel - if you change the catweasel.device identifier to trackdisk.device it may work, as the catweasel driver is pretty compatible (uses the same commandset). Maybe I'll try it one day...
@Mrodfr I wouldn't make much of a few anecdotal reports about Sams. FWIW, in Blitterwolf's mag, Vesalia wrote "The Sam boards have proven to be reliable products, and we?re looking forward to selling the Sam460ep when it is released in September."
