Re: IBrowse 3.0 released

I absolutely love IBrowse and must try to type a message using it and it is somehow more fun than using any other browser, as is browsing the web with the sites that works.

It rarely if ever crashes no matter what sites I visit and are very usable for downloading files like already mentioned. Fast and just a very nice experience overall. It's and always will be THE webbrowser for AOS IMHO.

When extracting files the protection flaga are still always set to rwed for all files. Will that be fixed?

@daveyw

IIRC the latest official supports booting from a SII 3112. In sys:prefs/uboot you can even choose to boot from a Serial device using UBoot 1.1.1.

@utri007

I got this error when I upgraded AOS to the latest version. I made a backup, formatted the harddrive and copied the data back. I have since bought the enhancement package which includes a newer version of SFS. Don't know if it helpt though.

I don't know what caused the error or if there really was an error and why but it seems to be something recent.

@imagodespira

I'd just like to tell you that I love your video-player,to me it's already pretty much all I could ask from a videoplayer. Not really, you can build on it without a doubt but it's a great, great start :) . It works really well and I like everything about it. You know what you expect from a good movieplayer and you make it happen, it shows. It's rare these days so a huge thank you for doing what you're doing.

I love DVPlayer as well I'd like to add, it's really well done as well. It doesn't mean that there isn't room for another movieplayer. People have different taste when it comes to software, personaly I love both and your program was like a breath of fresh air, I was and am really impressed by how well it's working!

MPlayer on the other hand... it always got issues it seems. It's great to have but it doesn't work well enough to me and also, a program made specifically for AOS with the right thoughts, heart and soul, will always be appreciated.

Thank you!

Workgroup is the name of the PC and in service I've typed "service=//name_of_pc/d" and D is the partition that I've shared in Windows.

My username is the e-mail address to hotmail/live and the same regarding password.

@Raziel

I am only copying from my share to AOS, that's all that I've tried to do.

I'm using smbfs workgroup user password service

I've tried volume and I've tried device but if I leave those out and type smbfs: it'll work anyway.

That's all I've done and all I know.

CTRL-C didn't seem to work here at first but that was the case only when I was listing files from another program, as soon as I closed that program CTRL-C worked.

I could list files from the share and browse the share with Filer, DOpus 4 and 5, Shell. With the Volume argument I could browse the share from Workbench as well but some files wasn't visible. I could not copy the files from anywhere but shell.

The filenames where like this: this.is.a.file.with.lots.of.dots.s01.avi

I could copy the file from shell using copy *01* partition:

Check the docs and you will see that you can choose "volume" as argument which will make it appear on WB if you want that. I just type smbfs: in shell (or dopus for example) to get to the Windows share and then I can list files, copy etc.

@Raziel

I've done nothing special, just sharing some folders. Anyhow, I am unable to copy some files using DOpus or Filer or Workbench but it does work using Shell and the copy command so that's what I'm doing. The filenames got dots in them, don't know if that's the reason, they don't show up in workbench at all.

Anyhow it's transfering the files using Shell and the copy command and that's good enough for me.

@K-L

Yes, yes I know, the point was that some games that was made in a time where 640x480 was "standard" doesn't always scale well to 1920x1080, they simply look best in that low resolution. IMO at least. I played Monkey Island 4 which could be set too 1600x1200 (no fullhd resolution allowed) but it didn't look good at all. When run at 640x480 it looked like it did back then and you can tell that the game was made for that resolution.

Anyhow, yes you can run it at whatever resolution you like, I've checked out the demo.

Re: Gorky 17 playable demo released!

@K-L

Some games are made for a certain resolution. Old games that can be brought up to high resolution doesn't automatically look better, I don't get why some people think that high resolution is the same thing as a better looking game. Take Quake 2 for example, you got this smeared out gfx and then you want to stretch it even further. Does it look better? No, the lines are offcourse less pixlier but on the other hand you got pixels no matter the resolution (haven't tried 4k yet) so just accept the resolution the game was made to run in. It is a matter of taste offcourse but I like the resolution 640x480 when a game was made for it just like games from the early Amiga days (count in Megadrive, SNES and so on). You run these games at 320x256 for PAL for example with scanlines and it will never look better than that.

Sometimes a jump from 640x480 to 800x600 or even 1024x768 will make the game look somewhat better but just because you can crank up the resolution doesn't mean that it will look better, that just isn't true. Look at the game and decide if you like the style or not before you complain about resolution. If you don't like it at 640x480 you probably won't like it at 1920x1080 either.
