Just a few more weeks, matey, just a few more weeks

@Mikey_C

1. Massive success for Hyperion, so that AmigaOS is secured for future development
2. A "modern" Office program (AbiWord, OpenOffice, i don't really care which one)
3. A decent, "modern" printer suite (drivers to be able to properly use 2.)
4. AWeb with CSS support
5. Amiga as resurrection platform for Point&Click adventures
6. A hardware base where i can actually choose

That's all for now, don't want to sound greedy

It's not optimal, but AbiWord will be available via Cygnix soon. It's a pity that it's not OS4 native, but at least it's usable.

It is OS4 native, but it does require X11, I agree that X11 is a beast, but I think it better to have programs ported to OS4, then not at all, I hope one day we have version of GTK1.1/GTK2 that do not require X-Windows (X11).

Native means it starts from AmigaOS, and it has access to system resources that is started on, Cygnix programs have access to Exec.library, dos.library and every thing else, they are just as native as every thing else, but they have dependencies to software packages that are ported from Linux like GTK, GTK needs a X11 server, as a result we get little more then we asked for really.

Sorry, when I said "OS4 native" I meant that the GUI is OS4 native (i.e., uses Reaction/MUI) and doesn't rely on an X11 server. I guess that was a bit misleading.

Hi afxgroup,

What the...?!??!?!

You better run!

Support Amiga Fantasy cases!!!
How to program: 1. Start with lots and lots of 0's. 10. Add 1's, liberally.

1. A web browser that supports CSS and other new web stuff
2. ArtEffect OS4
3. New OS4 SDK

Oh, and a new version of U-Boot that doesn't try to reset my non-existant PS/2 keyboard seven thousand times before deciding to give up.

1. Well... Hardware would be nice... really nice...
2. OS4
3. A solid browser with support for everything you could possibly need

Well, that's about it. Oh! One more thing!

4. Some kind of super-wax for my car, so it will stay shiny clean forever...

It is important to see wish lists even if we know that we all want a decent browser and a modern wordprocessor with printing features.
But if we want to make these lists useful, we need to give answers to each point with realism : what is possible ? who will do the work ? what is missing ?

Web browser : IBrowse is much better than what I was expecting but it does not support CSS. A chance would be Sputnik, improved and ported. Else a port of Firefox but it requires many missing depencies.

Word processor : Open Office seems to be unrealistic. AbiWord with X11 seems to be a good start waiting for a port with our native GUI. What is the status of Papyrus ? It must be debugged but great work has been done ! Where are sources ?
Else, there is the new upcoming Cinnamon Writer.

MySQL : Sure it would be great ! And I don't see what is missing to port it. Need someone to do it.

Java : First step, we need a JVM. There are many open source projects. JAmiga (http://www.jamiga.org) needs support ! Second step : integration into our browser (see above)

Scripting languages : Rebol could be nice but Ruby and Python are there !

E-UAE enhanced : Let's support it, it will be improved ! There are certainly many optimizations to do.

Games : SDL is well supported but we need OpenGL !

From my point of view, as an additionnal wish list :
- a much better shell ... hopefully that KingCON is better than nothing else I couldn't develop on OS4
- a enhanced installer
- a tool to update software with packages and dependencies
- Workbench with richer file requesters

Here is a summary of general wishes :
- Remote Client to Amiga (i.e. Allow me to use my Amiga remotely from Elsewhere in the world)
- MacOSX emulator from OS4
- Microphone Support for Internet Audio streaming
- Lots of creativity software, music and paint programs.
- AMOS Pro
- SuperBase5
- PPC ARexx
- Any ports of commercial RPGs from the x86 side.
- A MMORPG
- Skype
- Improved TuneNet with an Media Libary function, RealAudio, ...
- WarpUp Emulation
- Candy Factory 2
- ArtEffect
- Cinema4D
- IDE like StormC or other concept
- New games (Moonstone 2), games like UFO, Fallout2, ...
- AmiBlitz (native)
- Playstation 2 Emulator
- More X11 programs ( Gaim / Netscape / Mozilla / Firefox / Konqueror)
- More Printer drivers
- AmigaInput whit out bugs.
- MovieEditor, something like WildFire, with sound support, divx etc.
- Modplayer with AHI support (I use EaglePlayer on my A4k)

Also, remember that normal women are much more attracted to relationship than to physical appearance. As to the others, what guarantee do you have that they will restrict themselves to only you? If they won't, you don't need them. Run the other way.
