Found this on amigaworld.net.. just copying this one here.
What do people think about this? And what nice software uses wx?

Hey all,

As some already know, I'm doing a port of wxWidgets to AmigaOS. It's the first and maybe only time I port wx to a new platform, so I thought I might share the experience as I go:

http://portingwx.blogspot.com

In order to make this appealing also to non-programmers, I will use the opportunity to write a little about how to approach difficult challenges in general. As applied to this project obviously, though some of the juicier technical details may be better communicated in other forums (perhaps here). It's a single person project at the moment, though I will build on the technical base of some previous porting efforts.

Either way, first blog episode is out now. Hope you enjoy it!

Wasn't Alexandre Balaban involved (the only one?) in trying to port the wxwidgets?

Hopefully this isn't again a case of double work...

edit:
iirc wxWidgets is some sort of gui tool box, like reaction or gadtools if you will

Nope, I read elsewhere that the new porter has spoken to Alexandre, so the work is not being duplicated.

@Chris

I see, great to have a new man on the project

I for one could use them in the ScummVM-Tools to get a GUI
So, looking forward to this

@Troels

You should probably change the assignee on AmigaBounty.net, before more people gets mislead

@All

Andreas has currently no AOS4 capable machine so he's doing all his work on AOS3 (WinUAE IIRC). *But* his plan is to obtain one (AOS4 machine) relatively quickly and start doing porting his work on it.
I advised him not to make an announcement there before he really has started working on AOS4 explicitly. Currently Andreas is very motivated and his making quick progress. However he's busy on other things too and he just came back to the Amiga a few moment ago (don't know exactly but to my understanding it's counting in weeks, maybe in months but not more). To what I understood he's doing it purely for fun and entertainment and for the challenge.

That said it's a *huge* project. He's taking another approach than I took, this can speed up the first stage (obtaining a working wxBase). When he contacted me I immediately offered my help to him, I pointed him to the bounty too and we discussed some of the difficult points that may arise.
His project is using the very latest source code base which is great because my source code was starting to be a bit out of date now, he has my source code as reference and I'll be as helpful as I can.

EDIT: fixed a typo

Hey guys,

I'm happy to see interest for the project also on this forum. Thank you Antique for opening this thread here while I was waiting for my account to be activated. I think abalaban answered the basics quite well. Since this port was last active, the wxWidgets main sources have changed a bit, and one difference in my initiative is that I'm porting to the latest development version. This does make the port slightly easier in my opinion, and also enables a slightly different approach. Mostly minor differences though, and the end goal is still the same. (native port to OS4)

As also noted, I did order a ppc box for the project. There was a delay in delivery, but it didn't impact the progress of the port in any way.

And hey, check out the pac-man coffee now on portingwx.blogspot.com!

No problem here. But use TimberWolf, at least for me there seems to be something on the page that trips up MUI-OWB to freeze the system (both input and WB updates, at least).

Best regards,

Niels

I'm quite sure that Elwood wasn't saying he was not able to see the page, but rather that he missed the page.

Anyway I'll try to see if this page is crashing my MUIOWB too.
