I encounter a problem with my new Sam440flex board. I installed entirely AmigaOS 4.1 from the new CD received with the board and I get graphics glitches ... I decided to reinstall from the CD I got with the Sam440ep .... and now graphics glitches are no more...
But with both CD version, when I run a 3D application, it run approximatively 2 seconds and then ... blackscreen ... my LCD moniter then display "energy saving mode" ... I'm obliged to reset the computer (reset button on the tower) to get my amiga OS 4 back running ...
Does someone experience this with his Sam flex ?
EDIT #1 : After testing many programs, demos and games I've noticed that this problem only happen with OpenGL applications ... Any idea ?
EDIT #2 : I've found the origin of the problem with OpenGL App black screen. In fact, I get this problem with MiniGL/OpenGL from Hans website. I don't have any issues when using the files from the AmigaOS 4.1 cd ...
EDIT #3 : With the default AmigaOS 4.1 CD files .. App work better and longer but always finish with a black screen of black screen with some bugs appearing on screen. Obliged then to reset the computer and restart Amiga OS 4.1 ..

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
@Yaroze in fact, this problem happen on OpenGL app at 99% of cases ... My devs in C/OpenGL does no more work properly ... in windowed mode, they run 1/2 seconds and then the Amiga OS 4 completely freeze ...
I manage to make system more stable changing the monitor settings but it's not yet ... as stable as Sam440ep I own...

Do Warp3D apps (e.g., WarpView, Wipesout 2097) work okay? What graphics card do you have? The monitor going into power saving mode sounds like a driver issue.
hI! all happened to me once, using a clean install, screen suddenly went black as if monitor went into standby mode and I had to reboot to get up and going again I agree with Hans I also think there is a bug in the video card driver which I'm sure in time will get fixed. I,ve turned VC off and all is sweet at the moment hope it stays that way:). cheers
And do Warp3D apps work fine or not? It's next to impossible for me to do anything about this because I don't have the hardware, and all I have to go on is "I get a black screen with MiniGL 2.1."
@LiveForIt: LCD but Sam440ep did not have this problem on this LCD monitor
@Hans: I've heard from my french reseller that some problems like : - focus lost on display (monitor swith to economy mode cos display is no more) - App that freeze AmigaOS on windows mode
can came from the fact that we have 1mb ram. They should vanished on 512Mb (for the freeze) and with adding +RB or -RB on display list in the DEVS/MONITORS/Radeon icon information. Nothing to do with Warp3D nor MiniGL/OpenGL ...
And that a fix is waited from Hyperion to fix these 2 issues...

LCD screens use 60hz signal, don?t worry about it, it wont flicker on the screen, that?s only some thing you see on CRT (cathode-ray tube) monitor there was beam drawing the screen.
Change all mode lines in tooltypes to 60hz and it should work (@60).
Warp3D might be using a different screen resolution.

@freddix I don't think the video blackouts have anything to do with the software you're using. I got my SAM Flex on Friday. I had 3 video blackouts the first day and about 2 per day since then. I also sometimes get the black vertical bars in WorkBench windows, small black dots appearing at various places in the display and lots of system freezes. SAM doesn't seem to work right with either of my 56k modems either. I turned on the SAM this morning and discovered that it had set itself to UTF (GMT) for no apparent reason. This seems a little more problematic than "beta" would imply.
This sounds like real hell, and definitely doesn't happen here on my new SAM440ep/667MHz. Three days in full use, no video glitches at all. Maybe it's just OS4.1 that needs to be updated for the SAM Flex?

That would appear to be the case. I can't use transparency (Compositing) at all because my windows freeze when I move or resize them. It's a little ironic that transparency can't be used on the only system you can buy that let's you install the recommended Radeon card. Considering how long fixes have taken in the past, I might try to exchange my SAM Flex for a SAM like the one you have.
I am not yet with a sam440 for have a 100% surre answer, but for your informations, I believe, presum, the program when close mantain garbage in the video card memory. And to make bigger the proglem, If I am not wrong the OS use partial the video memory if it have more than 128MB.
you need a program to clean the memory after the program end.
A long time a go I make to 68k OS a tool to clean all memory when a problematic aplication END and to cleam virus memory resident programs, maybe I will port it to the new AmigaOS when I have a sam440.
maybe you found this program in aminet for 68k, icememo If I am not confused, mistacked, it have long time.

I found 2 that I remember, just to curiosity if any one what test in the 68k system
