Problems using a SiI3132 SATA2 controller card with my SAM460LE

Did anyone try to actually use a SiI3132 SATA2 controller card yet? I tried two different cards but I only get cryptic error messages in Uboot, even when no device is attached to the controller. Of course I already flashed UBoot 2015.d and installed the new driver in AmigaOS 4.1 FE Update 3. Am I doing something wrong or is the SAM just picky about the controller card? The output is like

It works in my Sam460ex with a basic PCIe 3132 card. Maybe you can post a picture of the card.

According to ChatGPT Uboot tries to execute the card's option ROM which contains x86 code which triggers an illegal-instruction trap of the CPU. The solution would be to disable either the card's option ROM or prevent Uboot from executing the card's ROM.
I have one card where disabling the ROM can be done by a jumper setting, but it didn't worked either.
On another card I have, I don't know how to disable the ROM.
ChatGPT tells me how to disable the code execution in Uboot. I will try this later and report back.

This does not look like an x86 exception to me but a PPC one. Maybe it's a bug in U-Boot? I think you should ask aCube they should know better than ChatGPT.

I am not sure, if ChatGPT knows anything useful about Sam460 LE + SiI 3132. Probably all text from GPT is pure fabulation.

Did you buy SiI 3132 new, or used? It is possible, that used controller was configured to RAID, and this not works for us. Test your controller on PC and check if configured to JBOD.

In my screen is visible Sata device SATA2-3132, on your picture is missing. You have there only USB devices. It means, that firmware not recognized your device.

ChatGPT never claimed that other x86 BIOS ROMs than those from gfx cards can be emulated. It suggested to set skiprom=true or norom=yes depending on the Uboot version, but both don't work. However, since I get the same errors when jumpering one card to ignore the ROM chip (and even when I remove the ROM since it is DIP socketed), it shows that the ROM chip isn't the issue at all!
I have two cards and both don't work. The top one is my old SATA1 card.

I could test if they're configured to JBOD on Windows, but I guess the easiest way is that you tell me your model of your working cards @AlfredOne and @sailor and I try to acquire the same one.

I tested two controllers:
Black one ( new old stock ) running fine with Sam460LE. Red one ( used ) not works both in Sam and Powermac G5 Quad.

Quite interesting that you also have a not working card (assuming it's not broken).
We surely need a compatibility list or something that tells us why a specific controller card won't work.

I bought the working black controller here on ebay from shenzhenhd. Unfortunately this sale ends.

I tried to enter BIOS setup of (non-working) red controller with my Asus Z10PE-D16 workstation and not succseed. I will try it later at work with standard PC. In any case the red one is or damaged, or misconfigured. I am bet that many used controllers are configured in Bios to RAID and it is the reason.

With a 3132 card you would go 1.5 faster.
But you cannot boot from it, AFAIK. X5000 Uboot should be updated to support the 3132 upon boot.

We tested the driver with the same noname black card used by Sailor.
Other reports suggest that cards with external SATA ports do not work, raising suspicions about their BIOS.

Another note: X5000 owners report that the card is not recognized at all on the PCIe bus. It is unclear whether there is a bug in the X5000 Uboot or some kind of hardware incompatibility.

I found and ordered the black card at AliExpress.

Funny, when I originally assembled my SAM460LE I used a spare SiI3112 SATA1 card I already owned and my system freezed constantly but I didn't knew the cause of this. When Max from Acube wrote that the SATA card is the culprit, I ordered one of these black SiI3114 SATA1 cards from AliExpress and the freezes were gone!

And now AliExpress saves my SAM again...
But it could've saved me two times(!) a lot of trouble when the incompatibility of some cards were better documented!
I think those are newly manufactured cards utilizing old stock SATA chips.
