AmigaOS 4.1FE Update 3 - Bugs and Experience Report

Hi Everyone,

So, I figured this would be a good thread to post everyone's experience and any bugs with Update 3.

First, the bugs. I have an AmigaOne 500 with the original Uboot and a Radeon 5450. (Yes my setup is super old lol.) Okay, my mouse stopped working right. I have the A-EON AmigaOne Boing Mouse. To fix this, I put back the old bootmouse.usbfd and that fixed it. I also have the AmigaOne A-Eon Keyboard as well, and after a while, My AmigaOne would not boot into OS 4.1, it would just hang at the splash screen after loading kickstart, but I noticed the caps lock and num lock were not working on my keyboard. I then went back to the old bootkeyboard.usbfd and that fixed that problem as well. This could be related to the fact I have not updated the UBOOT on this machine since I bought it over 10 years ago. But I thought I would report it anyways.

One last bug, on the screen blanker, I am unable to change the screen resolution for boingball.blanker v53.14 but the blanker itself works fine.

My experience with the update is great. My AmigaOne 500 is noticeably faster now including the internet speed. The updates to the graphics library, exec, and roadshow made a noticeable improvement for sure. It also fixed the bug in ScummVm (latest version) which would crash on loading if I quit it and loaded it again. That bug is gone for me.

Overall, I am very pleased with it. Thanks to Hyperion and everyone involved.

Use snoopy if it lists some missing libray, maybe mingl/ogles2 or Warp3D#?

I have a RX550 on my sam460 and until I installed AEON's Warp3DNova and minigl/ogles2 stuff it wasn't working here. After that, it shows me all available screenmodes.

I think that the overall experience with with update 3 on my X5000 is positive, considering the multitude of different machines and setups most bugs have been fairly easy to overcome. For example i was dreading not being able to boot at all and had made several backups beforehand. Amidvd still doesnt work but if it is a licensing issue that is understandable, Candi does not appear to work but i am not missing it. the machine appears to be more stable, and mouse works every time once workbench loaded, before the usb used to run through 20 odd different setttings until it connected.
i Have not tried my A1XEG4 yet, iam still waiting for the daughterboard fix.

Hi everyone

Just wanted to share my experience regarding Update 3, or rather, my current issue with getting access to it.

I have an A1222 system running AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition, which I registered with its serial number on the Hyperion website quite some time ago. However, the new Update 3 doesn’t show up for me under the “Downloads” section (there’s no AmigaOS4 folder listed), and it’s also not available through AmiUpdate.

I’ve already sent an email to Hyperion support explaining the situation and included my registered username and proof of registration. I also saw on Facebook that at least one other A1222 user reported the same issue, so maybe there’s a small registration mismatch on their end.

Just to clarify: I’m not sure this qualifies as a bug, but I wanted to mention it here in case others with A1222 machines experience the same.

If I don’t hear back from Hyperion, would it be acceptable to receive the A1222 version of Update 3 directly from another registered user, provided I show proof of purchase and registration of AmigaOS 4.1 FE for A1222? (Just want to make sure I stay within proper guidelines.)

Looking forward to testing the new update once I can finally get it downloaded!

Post removed. I thought maybe you were not 100% logged on and why it does not see you and the downloads link appearing. Bummer. Hope they can fix you up.

That's an absolute disgrace, and I hope for your sake that it gets sorted out quickly.

If they can really provide proof of their purchase of the A1222, they should have been given access to Update 3 long ago!

May I ask where you purchased your machine? Was it a new purchase or did you buy it used?

I hope you will also receive Update 3 for your system soon....

The update on my X5000 with Enhancer 2.2 did installed fine. Although I needed 6-7 attempts for the download on Saturday.

USB-Stack works much better - my A500 keyboard with a Keyrah 3 now attaches properly and HiDPI mice no longer only go up and down. Console seems to be a bit more stable and debugging looks better.

But I noticed following bugs:
- fast clicking and dragging in a console windows freezes the OS (no GR, no serial log)
- HiDPI mice loose their mouse rad scrolling sometimes. Might be causes by detaching/attaching via my KVM
- gdb crashes with DSI after running a program, step does run the complete program

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes I am logged in to the hyperion site. Under "product registration" I can find "AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for A1222+" with the serial number. If I click download I find the following folders:

AmigaOS 3.1
AmigaOS 3.x NDK
AmigaOS 4.x Software Development Kit
AmigaOne Firmware Updates
Demos
Games
Warp3D for Classic Amigas

I also received a direct link to Update 3 on the hyperion website from another user with an a1222 machine here in another thread. I jist received a message on the website that I did not have access to this file. I was logged in at the time.

I know it can be frustrating for sure when you own something yet can't access updates and so on.

I registered the Amigao4.1 serial code last year on the hyperion website when I got the machine after I bought it new. I can find AmigaOS under registered products when I'm logged in (AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition for A1222+). The serial code was on the receipt.

EHCI Controller Task Unit doesn't seem to like my USB setup anymore as it keeps throwing DSIs and freeze everything.

I updated with Amiupdate without any issue, I suppose. Got A1 here through all of the public OS4 versions. I haven't used it that much yet but the USB mass storage seems to do okay.

It should list such update (if you have the udpates url set/configured)

Post here the crashlog and I can open a BZ with such log.
