AmiUpdate 2.50

A new version of AmiUpdate popped up as available today (v2.50), but I can't download it. I tried finding the archive on the AmiUpdate website, but didn't see anything. Has anyone else been able to update AmiUpdate?

Same here. The archive does not exist on the server at present.

For me it updated to version 2.50 without problems.

But now if I launch it from Workbench, application.library opens this warning dialog:

---application.library----------------------------
The application "AmiUpdate" has opened version 2 of the interface "application",but tried to pass version 1 tag definitions to application.lib!

Please inform the author about this problem.

Note: The called function (and hence probably the application itself) will fall now.

[ OK ]
---------------------------------------------------

After pressing OK, the AmiUpdate window opens and everything works normally.

However, it no longer opens when you click on the AmiDock icon.

Exactly the same problem here Version 2.50 is displayed via AmiUpdate but cannot be downloaded or updated.

It is also not available at http://amiupdate.codebench.co.uk/files/AmiUpdate_upd.lha .
I think that's the problem.

The AmiUpdate installs if the following settings are set:

- “Allow automatic update” enabled
- “Perform Self-Update check when started manually
- the “www.AmiUpdate.net” server is enabled and the checkmark is set on “Include this server when scanning for updates”. The option is in “Edit” server.

Thank you for your help.

As soon as I want to add a server to AmiUpdate Prefs and save it there is an ugly DSI. I am not able to add another server

Is there any other way to add the server besides Sys:Prefs/Updates?

Crash log: https://paste.ofcode.org/vp36GBHDBgxWVBt2AnPKsV

Maybe someone can look at this and explain to me why AmiUpdate crashes or why I am not able to add a new server?

I am grateful for any help.

Just now I tested this on fresh Sam460le AOS4.1fe upd2 installation:

AmiUpdate: 2.49 - 2.1.2022
Updates (prefs): 53.8 - 8.1.2013
AmiSSL I updated manually to last os4depot version
Manually created Sitelist ( the same like I have on other machines )

- Updates prefs allways crash when I save changes - with DSI in module newlib.library.kmod
- but preferences should be edited manually in envarc:sys/update.prefs
- and cannot update AmiUpdate to ver.2.5, like Maijestro reported

so there are at least two issues - missing file ( or wrong connection, etc..) and crashing preferences

I was able to solve the problem by going back to AmiUpdate 2.47 and updating to AmiUpdate 2.50 from there.

http://codebench.co.uk/amiupdate_website/index.php?page=downloads

No more DSI in the prefs settings and any server can be added and saved.

@Maijestro
- downgrade to version 2.47 works
- upgrade to 2.50 works also ( should be done via "use this server for self-upgrade" in amiupdate.net preferences, upgrade via upgrade window not works)
- application library has warning window:
application has opened version 2 of the interface "application"but try to pass version 1 tag definitions to application.lib

but it works now - thanks for workaround

The update to 2.50 went fine here, installed and clicked OK to reboot.

Updating to AmiUpdate 2.50 fails for me.

Tried using AmiUpdate 2.49 and AmiUpdate 2.47 same results.

Hmm. I must admit I waited a few days before updating
when I saw others had problems updating.

What version was you all on before?
I was on 2.49 (checked before update).

Did you manually update from the FE2 ISO's buggy AmiUpdate?

Where's Rigo at?

Hello,

It' seems a URL error as it point to nowhere. I've got a 404 error when I enter it in a browser.

The update archive can be found on Amiupdate website.
Copy the URL of the AmiUpdate archive link in "Downloads" and add "_upd" right before the file extension.

Regards,

Downloaded 2.50 (http://codebench.co.uk/amiupdate_website/files/AmiUpdate_upd.lha)

just notices some files have different sizes, but version remains.
update.library seems unstripped (size ~1MB)

Rebooted system and working fine.

OK, after quite a snowball of issues and such, 2.51 is available.

Hopefully it should work OK. I've tested it locally here on two machines and it seems good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed everything works as it should.

On February 1, due to some other issues, I performed a fresh clean install of AmigaOS 4.1 FE + Update 1 + Update 2.

After this I updated AmiUpdate directly to AmiUpdate 2.49.

Yesterday, I tried to update from AmiUpdate 2.49 to AmiUpdate 2.50 using AmiUpdate and it did not work.

So I installed AmiUpdate 2.47 from my backup CD with same results.

Currently back on AmiUpdate 2.49.

@Rigo:

Just updated to 2.51 from 2.50. Self-update worked without any issues.

But I still get the same pop-up as on 2.50:

The application "AmiUpdate" has opened version 2 of the interface "application", but tried to pass version 1 tag definitions to application.lib!

Please inform the author about this problem.

Note: The called function (and hence probably the application itself) will fail now.

As with 2.50, clicking on the icon on AmiDock after starting does not open the application window.

Thanks for the update 2.51 I was able to install it via AmiUpdate 2.50 without any problems.

As FlynnTheAvatar reports, I can also confirm that AmiUpdate 2.50 and 2.51 can no longer be opened from the AmiDock. I currently have to disable the AmiDock function to get the AmiUpdate window to appear.

AmiUpdate prefs and settings work fine and can be saved without problems.
