This was a good Amiwest in terms of News and Release packs ready for download.
I liked the technical presentations of PowerPC and MPEG decoding from engineers.
I like the news the classic Audio card, new card could be a completely different audio beast it could have hardware SID chip, software could have auto connect to itunes ( such plugin can be reused in AmigaOS for not just audio but software purchase, or in game or in app purchases seen on mobile devices.
I rewatched the World Premiere of Amiga video on Youtube :
That would blow peoples minds,or some way to access GPU of GFX card easily as Amos accessed GFX/copper FX for 2013.
Oh and I dont think having THREE models is a good thing, support just ONE so everyone is experiencing the same system, one system for developers to support and write games and software for.
Users dont like many models, in 3 years new technology would be out anyway. Solution One model thats cheepest and available in quantity, take least resources, people can buy at a decent price (sub 1k).
Go to linux geeks / privite linux experts for 'tweeks' and advice. Go to marketing company and create promo material that can be used to sell the systems. Then go to some TV channel and sell as linux boxes, giving flat fee for each model sold as an incentive.
- just my 2p :) AmigaDOS needs an alias find for search.
You wrong , I see a vic 20 become a game machine Or an office computer with green monitor do this too.. With the power of a Sam 460 and a 7750hd you can have battlefield 3 running in full quality at 1024x768 30fps or run raiman origin.
Be sure with a 5020 and 4gb RAM with 2gb videocard 16x pcie and good 3D drivers you Will be a le to run games of 2013 without problems.
I make run X com 2013 with an old p4 2.4ghz 2gbram and a radeonhd on pcie-->pci Adaptor
To be clear, the the 5040 will be significantly faster than the AmigaOne X1000, right?
And, do either of these have Altivec?
* Built or announced.
P.S. The loss of the netbook is a SERIOUS blow to AMIGA. I hope that some alternative can be found soon. Maybe even the netbook producers may be willing to go for a write-off hit and call A-EON around Christmas time with a large batch offer that can't be refused? :=D HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE????
P.P.S. The NANOSECOND, I can raise enough money for any of these systems, I WILL BE IN A BUYING MOOD! DO NOT DOUBT THIS!
Support Amiga Fantasy cases!!! How to program: 1. Start with lots and lots of 0's. 10. Add 1's, liberally. "Details for OS 5 will be made public in the fourth quarter of 2007, ..." - Bill McEwen Whoah!!! He spoke, a bit late.
Well, 3 boards could be just one board with changable CPU. It would be easier to produce, and AmigaKit could mount and offer CPU upgrades. This way you have to make defenete choice and board has no upgradable CPU, just like Nemo.
@ssolie
Nice summary of what expect and fragment of roadmap where to go.
Seems OS 4.1.7 will be the OS that will go with Cyrus.

No it wouldn't. It would make the boards more expensive, the socket would take up more room on the PCB, plus a surface-mounted CPU ensures better connection and mechanical stability.

Yes, I do know board is already designed and manufactured, but maybe for the next board. I believe its easier for users and that would make upgrades more affordable, even board itself would be more expensive.
It proved of great worth on original high end A1.
Well you can`t comment on blog, can`t you. Very few such blogs I know.
I am more interested in when will updates (NTFS driver and X1000 onboard ethernet - as only promised) appear on AmiUpdate?
Also, there were mentions of "AmiWest resulting in fountain of new updates for AmigaOS" (or similar) and that Timberwolf development team will be formed, but I don`t see that in AmiWest summary at all, and no one seems to be able to find any trace of what Hyperion/Steven said at AmiWest.
So what happened with above two?
I suppose AmiWest 2010 roadmap is still on.
Is it just for AmigaOS 4.2 or overall to do list until AmigaOS 5?
On AEON side: AEON website claims Ubuntu Remix DVD is immediate release, but AmiStore is empty and no Amiga reseller sells it. How to buy one?
It (cpu socket) proved of great worth on original high end A1.
No, it'didn't. Far more users had problems with loose cpu cards and the flaky behaviour of their machines than there were cpus available (there actually weren't any until some boards died ultimately) to switch.
Only until a third party created upgraded and fixed cpu's (which were expensive for both the manufacturer and the buyer)

What about giving the guys some time?
It's not even a week after Amiwest, what do you expect?
Hmmm ... but how come I have seen more powerful G4 avail for XE only because of the socket? Surely, the board design isn`t best example, but I can`t believe you are telling me soldered CPUs are better solution then socketed, in 2013.
What do I expect? Promises to be kept. Week is little time and is quite much time. There were only two current AmigaOS news (not promises) that are NTFS driver and X1000 onboard ethernet, and for example I do need them on day to day basis.
At the other hand, Ubuntu Remix was avail for install on X1000 months from now, and is already announced as done deal officially, but is not available.
And I am talking of "already done" things, not promises of glorious future.
Is this error of companies behind it, or of my impatience? Surely when I grow old, AmigaOS might also become mature.
