@Daytona675x Your Cinema 4D troubles are a good example of just one of the many unplanned issues which make it impossible to know exact release dates and also increases the cost of software development. I wish more people would understand that general concept.
I should be ordering my copies of the game by the end of February.

@ChrisH
I use Hitachi, Seagate, and Western Digital drives. I've had about 50 disks so far, ranging from 80 GB to 3 TB, both 2.5" and 3.5", and the Seagate have gone bad more often than the others.
Now I only use Seagate when I get them for free, and I only use them in Raid.
I also have not used SSD yet. They cost more and may have a reduced lifespan.

I'm purchasing some hard drives for my VMWare ESX servers and noticed there is a good selection available now for 4k drives at a lower price than the older 512B drives. As I mentioned 5 years ago, there are still plenty of new 512B drives available.
It will be at least another 5 years before I get concerned about 4k drive support in OS4, but I'm curious if anyone has tested them, or heard any news.

I don't have a PCIe to PCI adapter, but I did try the Radeon 9250 directly in the PCI slot and it works fine.
Someone suggested that you try turning off DMA for graphics library, but I don't know how to accomplish that.
I'm glad you obtained a Radeon HD card, and I agree, Hans did a great job with it.

It sounds like the difficulty is to reproduce the problem on other people's machine. I've not seen it happen on my AmigaOne XE, Sam440, Sam460 or X1000.
Do you know what specific symptom I can try to replicate on my machine? I can try a Radeon 9250 in my X1000.

@ddni Yeah, I'm hoping Amiga OS 4.2 can be released before the end of year 2016, but very happy with 4.1 Final Edition and new Radeon HD 3D drivers. If there are people who can write hardware drivers, it would help a lot. I know Hyperion's time has to be split between hardware support and OS development. My wish is to attend AmiWest and learn some programming so I can do more than say "Hello" to the world.
Edit: K-L, I'm also curious to what issue you have, maybe you can post a link here to the forum thread about it?

I'm trying to put a link to my auction in my Classifieds ad, but the HTTP link gets mangled. Does anyone know how to do it? I've tried using the "link" option in the editor, and also doing it manually with no luck: http://us.ebid.net/for-sale/amiga-ami ... -g4-800-mhz-139780280.htm(USA Only)

I would pay for an updated version of FinalWriter, or AmigaWriter, or CinnamonWriter. I liked almost all the Amiga Word Processing programs, except for WordPerfect.

FYI: I use the menus (cursor keys) to set the boot drive and sequence, not the command line.

On my AmigaOneXE, each time I go into the UBoot menus, I have to set the boot drive/sequence again, otherwise it gives the same message you have.

I'm also looking for a more recent OpenSSL or AmiSSL. The existing ones don't support the certificate authority I'm using: GoDaddy. I've tried adding this manually to the certificate store with no success. I need this to get the OWB browser working as a Webmail client, and am willing to pay someone for an update that works.

Heh, cool! Someone posted this on the news site: Quote: Dale Chitwood ... someone will solve it and figure out how to recover. But if they don't I will just browse with my Commodore Amiga 4000 and have no worries.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/288495 ... s-to-hit-iran-russia.htmlI've heard that this may not only be infected firmware, but disk manufacturers may also be shipping drives with spyware hidden in the firmware. I'm guessing the malware is coded for x86 processors, and not a threat to OS4 unless specifically coded for it?

@Hans
That's disappointing. I've had NO problems at all with my ATEN CS1734A. It works great mixing PS2 Keyboard and Mouse (AmigaOne XE), with USB (Sam440, X1000, Windows box).
I'm considering the CS1758 for an 8-Port solution, so I hope it doesn't have any trouble.

I don't know what dependencies DOpus5 has, but keep these points in mind:
1) Final Edition should be installed on a clean (formatted) partition, so if you are re-using your existing Sys: partition, and DOpus is there, or DOpus libraries, preferences, etc., they would be erased.
2) If DOpus5 is installed on a partition with JXFS filesystem, that filesystem is not supported and should be re-created using FFS or SFS.
3) As a general rule of course, backup anything you don't want to risk losing.
