Radeon RX cards on X1000
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

See User information
This link suggests that Goos has found a hacky way of getting a Radeon RX card running on the X1000. https://os4welt.de/viewtopic.php?t=2639

Would value any comments about this before I go poking around in my X1000.

I read about the hack. I think before I go hacking my X1000 I'll buy the software from AmigaKit to get hardware video playback on my Radeon HD card. So far I've been satified with the 3D permance of my ASUS 2G Radeon HD 7550 card. I say this even having already purchased an RX card which was targeted to go in a Tabor when they became available.

So, iiuc, the only thing that needs to be changed in CFE would be to add support for RX Cards in the gfx card init...

@Matthew, do you read?

Frank says, the rx550 runs better than his RadeonHD 7750. I will try it, just purchased a card at ebay.

My purchased RX Card needs less space, power and is quiter.
Hope that A-Eon/AmigaKit does not now believe that a Firmware Update is no longer necessary.
But probably no one would come anyway...

At least my feature request to support RX cards in CFE from some moons ago has since been picked up...let's see what comes of it

First try...unsuccessfull.

Boot picture - yes
Workbench - not really (wrong colors and crashing hard)
Probably need to turn off everything beforehand (WBStartup/suer-startup)
Unfortunately the early startup menu doesn't work (both mouse buttons pressed does nothing)

What card are you using?
Do you have link to a list of supported RX cards?

Thanks.

I will have to give this a try. I've ordered an RX580 4GB model for £105. It's used but CEX (Amiga Addict sponsor) give you a 2 year warranty.

It's not the card (RX 560 Polaris 11), it's something which is loaded during WBStartup.

I have the card running now, but i only get the PCI VGA resolutions.
I added a monitor file, but still, seems it's not getting picked up somewhere

I'm reluctant to remove PCIGraphics.kmod or i might end up with no display at all

It doesn't seem to know what DDC is either :-/

Probably not getting your monitors specs.
So you would have to set modes etc in your monitor file .

and disable "Detect settings automatically " in ScreenMode preferences .

Normally yes, but isn't that what DDC is for?
Even telling Screenmode to only use the monitors preferred screenmode doesn't work.

I haven't had an RX card in yet, so i don't know if there are some other steps i'm missing

edit: Oh, and shouldn't the screenmodes from my Radeon HD work?
C&Ping them didn't help either

some combinations of Monitors and Video card may cause DDC not

Well, typical "Amiga" moment.

First time it refused to work, second time it did.

Working now, though i lost my 2560x1440 mode, need to tweak the settings a bit.

And here's proof:

Looking good.
Would you please share here the exact syntax of the command you entered in CFE to get the startup env to autoboot?

I tried goos command from os4welt, it reboots the machine with autoboot, but the change does not change permanently. I tried the setenv -p which didn’t seem to work.
