@Valiant ??? Did you point OS4DepotGUI to its own directory? You shouldn't do that. You should point it to a directory where you plan to store the downloaded OS4Depot files. I.e. best would be an empty directory for the start. Please read the manual. I have explained it there too.
But I'm happy that it doesn't crash on startup at least :)
Alex.

@alexw Quote: Ok, 1.2 didn't lock up the system after downloading the db index, but I was able to make it crash by highlighting the "OS4DepotGui.guide" and hitting the Readme button. Same here. Same also with "Open" button. I'll send email.

@TSK Read what I wrote in post 41. Set the directory path to an empty directory and everything should work as it should. If you have done it correctly, you should only see the main directories of OS4Depot after starting, i.e:
+audio +datatype +demo +development +document +driver +emulation +game +graphics +library +network +office +utility +video
If you see any other files, you have set a wrong path. I will insert some safety checks in the next version but until then, just use it as it's supposed to be used.
Alex.

@orgin It does at the program start. Is that a problem for the server? (If you've noticed loads of index file downloads yesterday, I was testing if the program crashes on startup - open - close - open - close -open - close - ... :) I know you suggested using http://os4depot.net/modules/apms/SINCE.php?since=1185500479but that would mean a total restructuring of the program logic. Alex.

Sorry, it was that traditional RTFM issue. You've made quite nice tool.

Glad that it works :) I will do another version with the safety checks before I upload it to OS4Depot.

@alexw
Looks like a good program.
Would you consider the following features :
MD5 hash check / validation
download / upload 'good bits' of failed download/server error, not all file if can be avoided.
search / sort feature, eg name, version, developer, OS
star system for popularity / top ten / voting system
and for developers access to source (which should be a must in os4depot - incase something happend to the developer and the code is lost).
As you can see with Aminet its a mess finding which has source, which has not.
PS: try finding the LHA 68k source code on Aminet ;)
cheers, asy

@samo79 Sorry for answering so late, but I haven't logged into Amigans for some time. I have a newer version of OS4DepotGUI, but it's kind of unstable and I don't find the error. I also didn't have much time lately. But as any kind of feedback always motivates, I might continue the bug hunt again

Thanks! Quote: Would you consider the following features :
MD5 hash check / validation The full index file of os4depot doesn't have md5 checksums, so not really possible with the current logic. Quote: search / sort feature, eg name, version, developer, OS This would only work for files where the readme already has been downloaded. And I don't know if I have the time for such a feature. :-/ Quote: and for developers access to source (which should be a must in os4depot - incase something happend to the developer and the code is lost). At the moment I will keep it closed source, sorry. Should I really give up work on it and the demand is there, I will open it of course or give it to another developer. (And it's not that my program is required for using os4depot.) Regards, Alex.

@all
Has anyone used this program recently? With all the changes in the OS the past 3-4 years the download function is no longer working for me on either my AmigaOne XE or X1000.

You could always try the os4depot mode in Filer instead.

No thanks, I hate that sort of 'modern' program that tries to combine 3 million functions in one big bloated app. Give me a small program designed to do one thing well rather than a Jack of all trades.
Jack is well done and there is nothing wrong with it, it's just not for me.
