@COBRA it's the "Use OS fo screen update" that cause this ... Without this option all run perfectly :)
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

@freddix Why would you want to use that option? It's slower anyway, and it's disabled by default.

Hi @COBRA...I re-applied my changes to the 2.30 version, plus made a couple of other changes and fixes which will hopefully resolve the problems some have reported... New wrinkle: v2.40 leaves an output window behind after play. If you attempt to close it via WinGUI a GrimReaper appears!. :(

@Snuffy Does that happen when starting from shell, or via Icon, or in both cases?

some bench on A1G4, 512Mo RAM, ATI radeon 7500, with triplebuffer
timedemo demo1
1280x1024 14.3 fps
1024x768 21.4 fps
800x600 31.6 fps
640x480 43.5 fps
does it make sense ?
Thanks Cobra for updating the engine

Re: New version of Quake (v2.40) available
on a Pegasos2/G4 it works at reasonable speeds (25+fps) at resolutions of up to 1024x768 Why it is so slow? Using MorphOS I play with 45 fps @ 1024 x 768 on Efika . Pegasos 2 does about 75 fps at the same resolution, and this is what I can call "reasonable speed". Is it possible that your port is still not 3D-accelerated?

@COBRA I get a grim reaper when I first try to run this. Killing the app and trying again brings up an MUI window, but the program won't run -- just a black screen. My system is very clean -- are there any libraries, etc. that this needs?

@krashan This is the original Quake, not glQuake, so yes, it uses software rendering. And this is not my port, it's Frank Wille's port, I just fixed a couple of issues.

@klesterjr Without specifying what kind of system you have and submitting a crashlog, I can't even guess what could be wrong.

@TiredOfLife Yes. The grim reaper comes before this point anyway.

@COBRA
Micro A1, running OS4 Final (with the July update).
How would I generate a crash log?
Edit: Nevermind -- there's apparently an option in Grim Reaper

@klesterjr Is that OS4.0 or 4.1? To save crashlog, you press 'more' in the GrimReaper window, then press 'Write Crashlog". The crashlog will be saved in Ram Disk.
