I can understand it with Doom3, but not with Wipeout which works even on old classic amigas and radeon9250 on 60 FPS with no problems. Re-written code can acts worse of corse, but not _that_ bad..
As I wrote already they are different games, not just original vs rewrite, but Wipeout and Wipeout 2097 are completely different games.
But it would be funny to test this Wipeout on classic Amigas, I'd expert with a Radeon9250 you'll get something between 0.1-0.2 (BlizzardPPC) and 0.5-1 (CyberStormPPC) FPS.

As you can read in the linked blog post in #4, this source is basically a complete rewrite of the leaked source code already. So a bit more adjustments to what's available on our system wouldn't hurt

Afteral, the pc version manages >2000fps.

Even on my old PC (i5-2400, no gfx card) the WebGL version is 800-1300 FPS.

The web browser used may make a big difference, I'm using Opera.
Edit: Tested it with Firefox as well now: Only 400-800 FPS

And it's a Tower PC, usually Notebooks/Laptops have slower CPU and GFX than Desktop/Tower PCs because they are optimized for low power usage instead of max. speed.

I've just tried the browser version in Chrome on my Win10 PC with Radeon RX570 and the framerate is in the range of 2600-5000 fps.

I couldn't find a pre-build windows version.

So we have a loooong way to go.

Edit: To make it worse for your notebook. Even mij Samsung phone does 600 - 1200 fps

I downloaded MOS version and added Huno's wipegame file to it. The game works (after changing one dir name). But I got stuck in Hall of fame screen, I can change a letter with cursor up and down keys but can't move on. Nothing happens with esc or return keys or any other key. And how do I get a joystick working ?

Can anybody explain what going on wrong there, and why is such a low fps with such a simple game we do have now ?

Is it because we compiled it now with not pure gl4es, but glew+egl_wrap going some other than casual gl4es route ?

That is bizarre. I have to enable frame-rate limiting with the old WipeOut 2097 port to make it playable. Otherwise the game is too fast. This is via the old Warp3D API and all its limitations...

Unfortunately I lost my Wipeout-rewrite sources during a ubuntu ssd corruption. I can't remember all the fixes and some files were expired on wetransfer

Does someone still have the sources that builds with HunoPPC's egl-wrapper or gl4es?
