If one look at notepad, the open new.edit buttons etc. Aren't those and many other buttons located on the sys disc somewhere? I'm thinking of adding some gfx buttons instead of the boring normal gadget buttons in my program.

I think you'll find they are hard-coded into the libraries like window.class, layout.class, and the gadget classes.

I suggest you look up and use AISS on os4depot. It's a system for standard gadget icons created by Mason. It contains hundreds of images.

Small guide on how to load them:

But do make sure that your application handles AISS images being missing gracefully.

What is this?
When I warm reset os4.1update1, I get a glimpse of what looks like a tool bar with graphic buttons and icons in center of the reboot screen and woosh it's gone.
I ask because AISS was installed on the Update 1, but not sure of what to expect.

Yes, it is really fast!

I think it's the items started by the new WBStartup tool.

AISS has now been added to OS4, so the images should be available to all OS4 users. They should be in sys:prefs/presets/tbimages.

AISS works on OS3 and other Amiga like OSs so no problem using it on any of our platforms.

The bar across the screen when you boot up is, I believe, the programs being launched by WBStartup.

Yes, well, but they are not installed automatically. AISS is one of the "Extras" and must be installed explicitly by the user after installing the OS. So developers still need to make sure their programs can handle AISS images not being available.

Correct. You can adjust the way it is displayed somewhat in the WBStartup prefs editor.

Best regards,

As others have already said, these are the boot bar of WBStartup.
You can turn it off or make it borderless within the Prefs of WBStartup.

@Antique

I hope that the devs will (now that AISS is a quasi standard) make use of AISS in some (all?) of OS4's utilities
