I haven't seen these before. Are they even available yet? I am working on drivers, but they're not done yet, and they've never been tested with anything better than a Radeon HD 2400 pro.

I'd expect that this card would require a little work to get running.

Okay, where's a store that has it in stock? Or even has it listed?

I can't find one to buy anywhere on the net. I don't think they've been shipped by HIS yet. As soon as they are available I will get one sent to Hans. Presuming he'd like one of course

I found PCI express ones easy enough but no PCI even listed let alone in stock. I wish they'd named PCI express something completely different from PCI. It would make searching much easier...

The problem to found PCI cards is that, if you put PCI in the browser`s search engine, it return billions of PCI Express cards.

I believe it is availabe, I found in new egg the HIS HD2400 PRO PCI.

Maybe if a big store contact HIS IT can have this card to sell to the comunity.

I found a nvidia 5600Fx PCI too, I not like nvidia but it is a powerfull card vrs radeon 9250.

Yes it does, and I'd definitely like to get that one working with my driver. I'm not completely sure about the differences between the R600 and R700 series cards, but it looks like the GPUs are similar. It's described as an extension of the R600, with more processing units, UVD2, and various other improvements.

Use negative keywords with search engines that support it. For example, putting "-" in front of a keyword in Google turns it into a negative keyword, e.g., -pci-e -pci-ex -pci-express.

BTW, nice find. I didn't think that we'd get a chance to try a 400 series card until we had a PCI Express motherboard.

@those wishing to donate

Use this page instead of the general donate button on my website. This page makes it clear that the donation is for the Radeon HD driver project.

Most of you will probably have seen the news article several weeks back that exec.pl donated funds for an HIS Radeon HD 4350 PCI card. Well, I now have the HIS Radeon HD 4350 working with my driver. Thank you to everyone who donated.

Hi @Hans

Ahhhh!
Obs: Technically speaking, PCI Express is not a bus. A bus is a data path where you can attach several devices at the same time, sharing this data path. PCI Express is a point-to-point connection, i.e. it connects only two devices and no other device can share this connection. Just to clarify, on a motherboard using standard PCI slots, all PCI slots are connected to the PCI bus and share the same data path. On a motherboard with PCI Express slots, each PCI Express slot is connected to the motherboard chipset using a dedicated lane, not sharing this lane (data path) with other PCI Express slots. In name of simplification, we are calling PCI Express as a "bus", since for laymen ?bus? is easily recognized as ?data path between devices?

Will this happen in the next SAMigas?

@Snuffy

I certainly hope so. The PCI bus is already a bottleneck, so I'd really like to have PCI-Express. Even a 1x PCI-Express link is better than PCI.

Well, with the right chips, such as the PEX8648, you can make PCI-Express look like a "bus". It's a big honking switch I am considering for a different project.

And nice work on getting the 4350 running. What a frustration that must have been! But rewarding in the end. Kind of like win32 programming.

I haven't tested that, but others have Radeon 2400 pro cards working, so I would expect it to work.
