@afxgroup

I found PCI express ones easy enough but no PCI even listed let alone in stock. I wish they'd named PCI express something completely different from PCI. It would make searching much easier...

I can't find one to buy anywhere on the net. I don't think they've been shipped by HIS yet. As soon as they are available I will get one sent to Hans. Presuming he'd like one of course

@virgola

The card you've received, is it full or half height?
I ordered the full height one. Which they then said they didn't have. I thought from looking at their website they also did a half height version but the chap on the phone didn't seem to really understand what I wanted. He twice offered me an alternative NVidia card despite me explaining it had to be a particular ATI card so I asked for a refund.

That's a pity. I'll leave the link up on my website anyway, since they say that they are getting them in. Plus, it was pretty hard to find any shop in Europe selling them.

Hans

If anyone in the UK wants a card but doesn't want to order one from abroad, I'm happy to source some and sell them at cost. Seeing as Hans needs more X1000 series testers it would make sense to get some of those rather than HD2400s. Anyone interested can pm me.

I would like to thank those who have signed up as beta testers already. Almost everyone has HD 2400 cards though, which is understandable since people are buying these cards new, and want to get the best that they can. However, I hope that I can get a few more X1000 series testers.

Hans

As mentioned before I've got both an X1300 and a X1550 on it's way as well as the HD2400 I mentioned in my sign up details. I can always test mostly with those rather than with the HD2400 if that helps.

@Hans and anyone else interested

Just to let you know the UK company www.pcupgrade.co.uk haven't got any of the HD2400 in PCI at the moment I ordered one for next day delivery, when it didn't turn up I gave them a call. They said that they had been sent all PCIe cards by mistake and wouldn't have any PCI ones until the end of the month at the earliest. I got them to give me a refund and ordered one from an ebay seller instead. Which was cheaper as it happens. I'll see how I get on with this seller before recommending them to anybody else. I've also got an X1300 & an X1550 coming from abroad seeing as the prices weren't too bad. Thought I might as well test them all in my PegII, I might get lucky with one of them. Not holding my breath though. Lucky I've got a plan B (and C)

Yes that's it in the S drawer. Just drag and drop it onto the notepad icon on Amidock (presuming you still have it on there) to edit it.

@TSK

There certainly is at least a little imcompatability between the two versions. I found on my PegII that OS4.1's Media Toolbox describes my MorphOS SFS partitions as corrupt. They work fine in use on OS4.1 though.
MorphOS can't read SFS\02.

I had the same problem here with 1680x1050. Adding +RB solved the problem but I find performance is better at 1440x900 anyway so I use that instead

Neither am I.

What about upgrading the ram? I've read on a few sites that the max memory is 2GB, is this right? Don't really want to be stuck with 256MB...

AFAIK is not possible to use a graphic card on the pci slot of the micro.. Rogue told that there are problems about initialization.. unfortunatly at the moment is not possible to use it with graphic card.. no problem with pci sound blaster, tv-pci board or catweasel, but not pci graphic card..

Ok thanks for letting me know, probably saved me wasting some money on a pci gfx card

BTW, if you can use a gfx i think it will be better than the radeon 7000 even if running a 33Mhz..

Yeah that's what I thought but seems like I'm not going to get the chance to find out...

Re: Speed of PCI slot on Micro A1

@sundown

Shame, I was hoping for 66mz 33mhz is probably a bit slow for a graphics card. I was thinking of putting a Radeon 9250 128mb PCI card in the Micro I've got coming just for the extra video ram. I wonder how the access speed would compare to the onboard Radeon 7000? I'm not planning on running any demanding games, just a couple of extra screens at 1440x900 resolution. Maybe performance would be ok.
The manual doesn't happen to mention the speed of the bus the Radeon 7000 is on does it?

Thanks,
Rudi.

Hi,

@LiveForIt

Thanks for the suggestion!
I copied my gui.prefs file to a different location deleted it from envarc:. Rebooted. GUI prefs loaded fine, loaded the gui.prefs file from it's backup location and saved. Haven't had a grim reaper all morning! OWB3.6 has been 100% stable. I feel a bit stupid that it turned out to be something so simple. I just didn't suspect that a dodgy prefs file could cause that much of a problem.
