@terminills
Finally!
But still looks ”wrong”.. Very outdated GUI.. Although this looks much better than the older screenshots from AROS, with the IMHO, terrible looking GUI.. I do think OS4 has the most beautiful and easy to use GUI.. Looks like a professional has done it. MUI GUI can be configured yes, but most screenshots I’ve seen are full of colors and different GUI elements that makes it harder to use.
Is there any plan for adding native GUI elements for sliders, buttons and window Frame etc..? Or is this project still in the bug fixing phase?

@flash
MorphOS has really good release info. All things that has been updated and pretty much what’s been done. Clear version numbering also, not this FE, update 1/2 crap..
This is how it should be done.. Take notice OS4 devs/Hyperion!

@ChrisH Menu too large?! IMO prefs options should be in a real prefs GUI rather than in a menu. Only the control, about, preferences (which opens a GUI window), quit and such things should be in a menu. But as I have no Amiga at this time I'm not completely sure how this program is set up. Maybe you could link a screenshot of it in action? So I get the whole picture..

@ktadd
I haven't seen an option for changing FPS anywhere?
23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30 are the ones used in Win editors. But this option is maybe only needed when resyncing?

@ktadd Quote: Well, the HINTS one I'm not so unhappy with as I guess I'm used to it from ffmpegGUI. Besides. I want it to be easily accessable to turn on and off not matter what tab it active. I agree with you on the TEST MODE checkbox. I tried differnt locations and really didn't find anything I like. Again, I don't want it hidden in a tab because I want it visible with the Encode gadget. I could just see someone encoding, not realizing it's selected and trying to figure out why only part of the video is being encoded. I'll have to give this one some more thought.
IMO these kind of check settings usually should be be put in menu's or in separate preferences to make the application window seem more clear and easy to use. Which is WAY MORE important than first users making a mess when trying the application without checking the manual first. Also I would say this application isn't that hard to figure out. But its your app and suggestions doesn't cost anything. Quote: Yes, you can seperate the text with the bar '|' character and that will cause a newline in the title text. (ie. This a line|this is another line|and another.) You can have as many as you want. It's described in the gadget hint for the "Text Entry" gadget. I forgot to show that capability in the first videos but I included it in the new V1.1 features video I just posted.
Ok nice. But I didn't explain myself clearly. I meant If you can get multiple lines shown in the editor so you don't have to enter a BAR char? Like a little of WYSIWYG.. Quote: Import and Export of formats that MPlayer supports is next on the "todo" list. Did you have a particular format in mind? No promises when though.
I found this site.. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archi ... tle_formats_explained.cfmThe VobSub and SSA formats could be useful to atleast cover the most used formats. Are those MPlayer "friendly"? Quote: You know, I thought a lot about that, although I have no idea how to go about doing that or if it's even possible, but I decided against it anyway for a couple of reasons. One is that I decided against using up the window realestate to always have a video box showing regardless of if your previewing or playing a video. Better used for showing more titles. I'd rather the video could actually be shown in the size it really is instead of having to shrink it down to fit in the corner of a window or something. Third, the program is designed to allow editing while the video is playing and I think a seperate window work better for this. Also, MPlayer crashes if you run two copies of it, so being able to shut it down without having to quit SimpleSub is desirable.
I meant the preview having its own tab not in the same window as editing. A preview could be played scaled down inside a tabbed window and full playback could be done in a window or in fullscreen. The movie could be closed and released when the user closes/changes tabs. Again only suggestions, maybe bad ones, but as you said they could make you think about other ways of doing things.. Keep up the good work.

I just thought of something.. Is it at all possible to have the preview video inside the editor window rather than a separate window? Maybe in an own tab? When preview or play is pressed the app could jump to the tab by itself.
Maybe too much work or limitations of ReAction?

@ktadd Not a bug report but rather a suggestion.. Great app btw, nice looking. Nice to see ReAction used rather than MUI. ReAction (OS4 theme) is soooo much nicer looking than any MUI theme I have seen. IMHO of course. Back to the suggestion(s).. Could you put the HINTS and TEST MODE checkboxes is a separate tab maybe called MISC SETTINGS? They look a little out of place as they are now IMHO. Also the Frame step button, rename it to FrSt, FSt or ideally FStep so its not confused with FullScreen.. Which was my first guess when I saw the GUI in one of the videos. Is it possible to get multiple lines with the TITLE TEST? I mean like if you write a line and press enter it automagically adds a new line with both visable? Or even a third if needed. Again great app.. Btw is possible to add other subtitle formats to your editor?

Btw ChrisH, although a bit harsh in his post, is right. DHCP should be default, also run when starting network. Slowing down startup is worse than some programs requiring network complaining the first 10-20secs after boot is finished IMHO.

As an example I have read that Joerg (OWB OS4 author) seems to support OS4.0. He has been reluctant at using later features of OS4.1. Dunno why really? Maybe this is not the case anymore?

@kas1e I suppose some want to support classic OS4 users. But IMO this hinders use of the more advanced features of later AmigaOS versions. But then again this has always been the case with every OS. The difference being that other OS'es users encourages use of new features and thus making the users upgrade to new OS versions. Amigans (especially classic users) on the other hand seems to hate progress and want to use the same OS version forever, complaining about this and that program not working for their OS version. I think it's sad really. So few users should be able to buy two OS versions in four years IMO. I also can't understand users that still use classic Amigas with OS4, upgrade to a cheaper SAM for god sake. IMO of course Simply stop supporting OS4.0 & require OS4.1. Then users will have to upgrade.

I just checked out the filesize of SabreMSN and Wookiechat. 1.4MB and 1.7MB Aren't these filesizes just huge? I mean the programs uses alot of other libraries for functions.. So how come they become so big? Btw this is nothing against Jahc, almost every software for OS4 has huge filesizes. Is this because GCC creates unoptimized code or what?

@Helgis
DDR2 vs DDR3 is useless to talk about, the memory controllers inside the X1000 CPU are probably DDR2 anyway. The difference being that DDR3 draws less power in the same clock frequence. But at little or no speed increase. The modules can however run at much higher clock than DDR2 so if you buy insanely exensive modules DDR3 will go faster. But you'll need a memory controller that supports this of course.
Regarding SATA2 vs SATA3.. This quote taken from Wikipedia.. "The new specification contains the following changes:
* A new Native Command Queuing (NCQ) streaming command to enable isochronous data transfers for bandwidth-hungry audio and video applications. * An NCQ Management feature that helps optimize performance by enabling host processing and management of outstanding NCQ commands. * Improved power management capabilities. * A small low insertion force (LIF) connector for more compact 1.8-inch storage devices. * A connector designed to accommodate 7 mm optical disk drives for thinner and lighter notebooks. * Alignment with the INCITS ATA8-ACS standard.
The enhancements are generally aimed at improving quality of service for video streaming and high priority interrupts. In addition, the standard continues to support distances up to a meter. The new speeds may require higher power consumption for supporting chips, factors that new process technologies and power management techniques are expected to mitigate. The new specification can use existing SATA cables and connectors, although some OEMs are expected to upgrade host connectors for the higher speeds. Also, the new standard is backwards compatible with SATA 3 Gbit/s."
USB3 is the best improvement in real life.. I have read test that have gotten above 130MB/s transfer speed. That's a huge improvement to USB2 with about 30MB/s, and in best cases maybe up to 35-40MB/s.

@Raziel
The only problem that can arise is that your network is not ready when Workbench is fully loaded. That's why the OS4 team does not recommend this "fix". But if you as a user understand that the network may not be ready for a short while after Workbench is, this truly is a fix.
EDIT: Of course if you have network applications in your WBStartup or in user-startup then this fix may not be such a good idea to use.

What's up with NPAPI support in OWB?
I read the bug tracker suggestion comments where Joerg and afxgroup commented to each other then all of a sudden the suggestion is Closed. Does this mean NPAPI is being implemented as we speak or that we won't get it until Timberwolf?
