Hi all im trying to get my USB Logic3 gamepad working with my sam440ep and amigaos 4.1 ive gone into amiga input prefs but when i click on test/calibrate unit it says unit not configurable? Ive also noticed that in the units section of amigainputs it says that. Unit 0 is ticked, Status is not working and usage is enabled. do i need to do something else to get it working?
when i open amigainput and look at the available interfaces all i have is Generic and PCI? But when i connect my iphone and xbox gamepad i do get a popup so it lknows there plugged in i just cant access them?
@carvedeye Your joypad may not be supported. Try searching for discussions about compatible joypads. I have a Saitek which works, but I prefer the Competiton Pro USB joystick (sold by AmigaKit, amoung others).
I have just connected my xbox controller and a popup came on the screen saying vendor: microsoft, Product: Controller, class: cx5c297? what does any of that mean. also when i go into amigainput the only available interfaces are generic and pci there is no usb? here is a link where you will see a photo of my amigainput window. http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?p=579149#post579149
Go into System > Utilities > USB Inspector and select the joypad/controller you're plugging in. If it shows - Driver: None Then the device is not supported and AmigaInput will not display it as an input.
@carvedeye If no USB option is display in AmigaInput prefs, then it is not supported.
BTW, *beware* that AmigaInput is a bit buggy, and (at least for me) does not recognise USB devices that were plugged in before OS4 started. So you have to plug USB devices in after booting.
And you may need to soft reset OS4 after playing with AmigaInput for a while, since it can stop working correctly (and even crash the machine!). But once set-up it'll hopefully be OK - it's just the Prefs program that is iffy.
Logitech Precision is an USB digital joypad (similar to PS1 joypads). It works for C64 and classic Amiga emulation, and can be fully configured as a lowlevel.library joypad.
Genius MaxFighter F-16U USB analog joystick. Works too with amigainput.
" no USB option is display in AmigaInput prefs, then it is not supported"
Not quite true. Amigainput has been buggy since 4.1. It worked fine in 4.0 and I backdated to use that one prior to the recent 4.1 update, I have backdated since the update and I get the same issues.
Try removing the device, re plug and do a soft boot and see if it appears under prefs/amigainput/usb. This generally works for me. The xbox controller will not work but generic pads should be fine.

That`s my case, 6 years later (OS4.1FE) : I replaced a fine working Logitech RX250 mouse with Ducky Secret. The new mouse was not recognised, it started working only after a "c:USBCtrl restart" . I searched the fora and I found that modifying Kicklayout and substituting bootmouse and bootkeyboard modules with hid.usbfd should do the work. It worked like a charm at first boot, but after starting AmigaInput my USB Joystick was not recognised anymore ( the old mouse and no modified kicklayout worked fine for both devices at boot, no need to do anything further ). Now there are 2 options available :restart the USB stack in order to recognise the plugged joystick, or unplug & plug it in again. Not very elegant solution to a problem that wasn`t present before.
@Cass You're replying in the wrong thread! This thread is (was) about *joysticks* (and joypads) not working with *AmigaInput*. Nothing to do with mice not working with OS4 itself!
