When you explain a project, 99% of people can't imagine that it's possible. They all say: it will never work, or it's too much work, or what's the point spending time/money on that?
Maybe we are all too pessimistic, or we fear to spend time on a project because it "may" not work. I don't know.
But what I know is what I
see.
I asked what you wanted AmigaOS to be (
link).
To put it briefly, you all want an operating system with no limits i.e. you want many features available in mainstream systems. So you want to do the same, but you want it to be AmigaOS.
And here we
see that a system with these features is more successful than the Amiga systems i.e. largest market share.
Then I asked what you thought about 2 ideas that could improve the world a bit (
link).
Of course, you cannot "fix the world" in a few years and with one project. However, if you come across a homeless in the street, if you give him nothing, you are 100% sure you don't help him. But if you give him a few dollars, you "may" improve his life. What I'm trying to explain is that one choice is for sure useless, the other one can make a difference.
The first story/idea I told you in my
previous post, was about reducing greenhouse gas.
This is all true. 6 people managed to bring together more than 130 000 people. Together, they were able to prevent the emission of 40 tons of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere.
And they achieved that in only 5 years!
You can learn more on the
Team for the Planet website.
The second story is about a bank that could generate 2 billions $ of transactions and with some of that money, are improving the world with many projects.
This is all true again. They invested 60 M$ in supporting businesses in the energy transition. They gave 1.7 M$ in gifts to non-profit organizations.
And they achieved that in only 5 years!
You can learn more on
this website.
We
see that something which seems impossible at first sight,
can be done. Then what if I tell you there is a way to do everything that you want? But there is one condition!
What if we can find a way to build a system based on one mainstream core system (kernel, drivers...) but with the Workbench on top of it?
Think about MacOS. It's BSD under the hood but users do not care about it, they see and use the MacOS desktop. The rest is not their problem as long as they have fun with their system.
Would you accept such hybrid system if it gives you exactly what you want: an AmigaOS which is on par with mainstream systems? A system that allows you to stay on AmigaOS instead of starting your Windows machine?

What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make. What about you? Do you want to make a difference?
