X-Dock is not a docky, it's a docking application. A docking application, or a program dock, provides a place (typically, an icon strip) to launch programs from. A docky is a module that runs inside a docking application (like AmiDock) as a plugin or a "mini-application". One of the differences between AmiDock and X-Dock is that the latter does not support dockies. Ok it's a docking application, but what's the difference to the normal docking application, except that X-Dock does not support dockies?

It's just 2 different softwares with the same goal... Like AmigaAmp vs Tunenet, Blender vs Lightwave, Gimp vs Photoshop, etc... Just use the one you prefer (look and feel...).

If i understand it right, X-Dock should be better, but just with one limitataion : no dockies support ? If so, then why not add it, and so it can totally repace amidock ?:)

@kas1e Probably because add it it's not so easy, atleast i don't know if Guillaume is able to implement from scratch a similar thing ... also compatibility with the existent dockies should be preserved

Perhaps this may help: from include/interfaces/docky.h BOOL *DockyGet(struct DockyIFace *Self, uint32 msgType, uint32 * msgData); BOOL *DockySet(struct DockyIFace *Self, uint32 msgType, uint32 msgData); BOOL *DockyProcess(struct DockyIFace *Self, uint32 turnCount, uint32 * msgType, uint32 * msgData, BOOL * anotherTurn); from include/libraries/docky.h /* ** --- Docky Init Sequence --- ** ** The following steps are the typical sequence how AmiDock opens a docky. ** ** DockyGet(DOCKYGET_Version, ...); ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_DockyFileName, ...); -> not done for an AppDocky ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_DockyAttention, ...); ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_DockyPrefs, ...); ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_Screen, ...); ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_Window, ...); ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_DockTypeChange, ...); ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_DockOrientationChange, ...); ** DockyGet(DOCKYGET_InvisibleProcess, ...); ** DockyGet(DOCKYGET_Notifications, ...); ** DockyGet(DOCKYGET_FrameDelay, ...); ** [- future expansion -] ** DockySet(DOCKYSET_DockFontChange, ...); ** DockyGet(DOCKYGET_RenderMode, ...); ** DockyGet(DOCKYGET_GetSize, ...); ** DockyGet(DOCKYSET_RenderDestination, ...); */

Hi K-L, and All Others....
Just look at all those
SUPER COOL AWESOME DUDES keeping AMIGA alive in 2016+!!!!!
I really
really appreciate any and all of the peoples' out there efforts in this thing that we are gravitating to after all of these years, through the thick and thin. To see that how awful things were at many points, and yet persevere on we do.
Let's keep Amiga alive.
Will get an X5000 as soon as I can get some money together, never doubt it about me.
Hope one day to make it to one of the shows. Keep up the good works.
AMIGA RULES!
Support Amiga Fantasy cases!!!
How to program: 1. Start with lots and lots of 0's. 10. Add 1's, liberally.
