A couple of people have mentioned problems with NetSurf freezing. If this has happened to you, please can you try dropping the contents of the below archive into SObjs: and let me know the results.
(NB: you may find some sites won't display the text correctly with this file - if that happens, let me know which sites)
No change here with the attached .so. No reaper, nothing with debug kernel or dumpdebugbuffer. Netsurf opens and instantly appears to lock intuition up.
theres a problem with the instal script (actually no .so library are correctly copied) and if you attempt to install in an old NetSurf directory, the instal script breaks with a "file in use" warning.
My suggestion (for now) is to create a new NetSurf2.0 drawer and install there the new release.
Check/compare then if all .so files have been copied correctly in SOBJS:
@Chris yes we have done that but it still freezes. do you have a working options file you can upload for OS4.1? please
Don't worry about file, I have deleted old Netsurf folder and re-installed from scratch. it seems the installation sets up some mime types after setting the minimum font size and default theme. It is working fine now. note to AmiUpdate users: do not allow this program to upgrade your existing Netsurf installation.
whoops spoke too soon, it is freezing at login page to Facebook.
I've changed my preferences from custom screen to opening on a pubscreen (WorkBench) and also changed it to a default resolution 1024x768 etc...
resizes etc with no problems, it hasn't crashed on me yet, it is slower in overall scrolling etc but has some good features not in OWB...
Read the docs and also select save settings from the menu and that will enter alot of stuff in the option files you can edit...
If I remember rightly it was something_pubscreen:WorkBench
In the docs anyway...

I'vejust finished going to 7 different sites and a number of pages with no problems at all, using the 2.0a archive. But I also manuallycopied over all the Sobj's from the archive and the replacemet you had here (can't remember the name now).
All was going well until I tried to bring up www.netscape.com. It says in the info bar at the bottom of the Netsurf window that it's trying to load a page, and shows the left border and a tiny patch of the left of a Reaction style titlebar (no text.) At that point, the mouse cursor disappears and everything is locked, but a soft reboot is possible.
This is under OS4.1 with compositing on. I have not tried it from shell yet.
BTW, I hadn't used the earlier NS much because the display always looked so odd. But when I saw your comment about needing to have it running at 32 bit depth, I tried it, and VOILA! Nice!
How long before you can put text zoom back in?

@swisso Freezing on certain sites should be resolved by the file in post 1 (unless it is throwing an assert - that will be a different issue)
@Paul Text zoom was never in it Not in any meaningful working way anyway. I need to revisit that and add the rest of the logic in to get it working properly.
@all Please make sure libc.so and libgcc.so updated as some people have been getting "file in use" errors when these try to copy (you may not notice as the install script is set to silently skip over any it can't copy).
@Paul Tried netscape.com here - works fine, although the page is a bit of a mess (sidebar is above all the content) and it takes ages to come up.
@swisso The Facebook login page seems ok too, although most of it is blank (perhaps filled with Flash anims usually?). It sits around doing nothing for a few seconds before being able to click in the logon fields but doesn't crash.
