Dungeonkeeper (based on Keeperfx 1.4.0.0) includes a complete Installer. Pre-Install on PC is NOT needed.

I managed to eventually install it completely (and it was not that easy but it's ok now).

By the way, musics don't work (I have put the ogg files in the music drawer but no music is played wther I use streaming or not). I even downloaded them from the KeeperFX website to replace those I had created myself bu still no music.

Music works the ogg files need already be present during Installation and the
installer converts them to pcm16 wav then. The
game expects these wav files not ogg.

just get black screen and system freeze. Have to reboot.

Install went fine but when I first double clicked on the exe icon it said something like pick another file or something like that...went into the icon tooltypes and noticed then exe box wasn't clicked ...after that it loaded up but only to black screen

First time it might depack some zip files, during which screen might stay black. Check snoopdos.

Also check if different behaviour if starting from shell (with stack 2000000). Just tried it out myselves again and it starts up fine.

Was missing executable attribute as well. Got black screen and freeze too.
Now sadly my X1000 will not finish booting past the AmigaOS4.1 splash screen. Just hangs. Serial output show no errors, last line says DOS loading.
Not at machine rn to get exact wording.

Splach screen can de disabled, there is jumper on the motherboard.

RS232 null modem cable can display the errors, when the splash screen hides the errors.

Ok, the game is finally running.

* I had to mount the CD image (CUE file)
* I had to download KeeperFX ( https://github.com/dkfans/keeperfx/rel ... eeperfx_1_4_0_complete.7z )
* I extracted keeperfx_1_4_0_complete.7z anywhere (don't forget to create a drawer before extracting)
* I then launched the install script (crashes at ligne 192 -> I have modified the ToolType to use the 68k version of Installer)

1: tell the installer where to install the game
2: tell the installer where is the KeeperFX 1.4.0 drawer
3: tell the installer where is the data drawer of the Dungeon Keper CD (it's in KDDISK1:Keeper)
4: tell the installer which CPU version you want (PowerPC - AmigaOS 4)
5: choose yes to convert Speech Samples
6: tell the insaller you have CD version of the game (for musics)
7: tell the installer which version you want (I choose the stable 1.4.0)

Let the installer work.

The installer will then tell you this : "You need to rip the music files from your CD and copy them to your dungeonkeeper/music directory manually if you want music, they should be named keeper02.ogg to keeper07.ogg". Actually, this won't work. They should be converted to PCM WAV 16 bits and the installer won't do it even if they are present at the right place.

There will also be a note regarding RapaGUI which must be installed if you need to use the Launcher GUI ( https://os4depot.net/share/library/hollywood/hwp_rapagui.lha )

The installer will then convert MP3 audio files to WAV files.

Note 1: to speed up video/audio conversion in the installer script, I replaced the provided ffmpeg in dungeonkeeperinstall/os4 by the most recent one (and for me the Altivec version).

Note 2 : to get musics working, go to https://keeperfx.net/workshop/item/393/keeperfx-music and download the musics. Use ffmpeg to convert OGG files to WAV PCM 16 Bits :

ffmpeg -i keeper02.ogg -c:a pcm_s16le keeper02.wav (do this with the 6 files)

And put them in DungeonKeeper/music


Note 3: you will have to set the Execute flag on 3 files in your DungeonKeeper drawer:

* dungeonkeeper
* DungeonKeeperGUI
* unzip_dk

On Sam460, it doesn't work : Guru Meditation with alignment error.

My machines are QEmu and x1000. Either do not have alignment exceptions. I think OS4-Betatesters of this game also all had x1000's.

Can you give me your email-address? Then I can send you a version with debug symbols, to find out the alignment issue. Thanks.

Still wondering why the WAV-conversion would not be done for you. For me that worked. snoopdos log of the relevant part of the installer would be interesting.

I have null modem cable. Will post serial output when back home Saturday.
I recall though that no errors were reported at time of splash screen freezing. Last line on output was about DOS starting.

Btw does the alignment issue also happens on
the 1.3.2 stable of the game or only on 1.4.0.0?

But a no go over here, Installation 100% with K-L's guide,
but black screen and jumps back to WB with 1.3.2,
black screen and total system freeze with 1.4.0.
