FINALWRITER 7.3 - Word processor for AmigaOS 3.1+ 68k users - Released in 2026 !

ANyone able to change fonts or print with the built in ipp printing? The requirements also mentions something called network stack is needed. Is this an extra file needed or something that must be setup?

TIA if anyone can share how they have been able to get these things working.

Network stack means that your amiga need to be connected to internet

Though whether there is a memory leak without exception... I would reboot in any case.

Anyone get the fonts figured out? I can't seem to load any other font than Vera Sans. When I try I get an error saying that I can't open this font as an outline font.

I assume Vera Sans is the default font. I was also able to use Vera Mono font. I tried Courier font because I used it alot with FinalWriter 97, and I received the same error message you saw.

just tried changing fonts now and getting exact same issue ???

Never had an issue with the previous version of Final Writer so hopefully this gets fixed asap

Thanks redfox and 328gts, I am glad it isn't just me. Hopefully it will get addressed soon.

Update...

I wondered if FinalWriter 7.3 would run better on OS3.

So I suped up my AmigaOS 3.2.3 emuation by adding MUI 3.8 and the other required libraries and fonts.

Emulating AmigaOS 3.2.3 on my MicroA1 using e-uae.

FinalWriter 7.3 launched ok and loaded some documents ok, but had some issues with changing font sizes or changing to Vera Mono font. Occasionally, the display went crazy with coloured lines and patterns buzzing across the screen.

When quitting the program, I had many trips to the Red Guru.

Perhaps my troubles are related to the options I chose in e-uae.

I was simulating an Amiga1200.

Maybe it would work better on a real Amiga or different cpu or graphics card instead of AGA or different AmigaOS3 version.

Anyways, it was an interesting experiment.

Sadly, this current version of Final Writer 7.3 is a bust for my system.

On the other hand, Final Writer 97 works fine directly on OS4 and also under emulation on AmigaOS 3.2.3.

Thanks for the followup. Yeah it looks like FW97 is still more functional on my OS4 system as well. I am glad to support OS4 development, so I hope that we will get some fixes in the future that will make it better on OS4.1.
