Video Vortex & AirPrint on my AmigaOne X5k - They Work! - Video

This last Sunday I tinkered on my AmigaOne X5K and happy to say I have two new things working on my computer.

Video Vortex - SO I CAN WATCH CAT VIDEOS WITH ALL THE CRAZIES!

and

AirPrint - So I can PRINT PDFs of CATS

LOL!

So nice to have these two up and running.

Makes my X5K more fun to play with.

Thanks for the video and for showing the 2 applications AirPrint and Video Vortex a bit more. Both are native developments for AmigaOs4.1 and that's what makes it so special I think.

Thanks for the new video promoting OS4.

Have you used the latest Remote Desktop for Amiga? I just got it and love being able to use it with my X5000. I am able to use almost all programs on my WIndows 10 and 11 machines on my Amiga with audio!

I can do everything while on my Amiga instead of having to switch to my PC.

If you haven't tried it, you should give it a shot.

Well not sure if there is a Mac or Linux solution. But it is a pretty cool way to use my Amiga for almost everything.

As a last line of defense, only in emergency for something mission critical that can only run on windows, last year I installed on an old 120gb sata hard drive, in my Linux system so it can dual boot, a windows 10 install, and it is so slow it literally takes 10 to 15 minutes to boot from after sitting for months of never running. I kid you not. Would never waste a SSD on windows either. haha

Do I hate windows, not really, but when I purchased my 2014 Maingear Shift, it came with Windows 8, so I do own one license # for that. haha.

I quickly removed Windows and installed Linux and been on that since 2014 for that 1st PC I ever purchased.

All my other systems are Mac.

I had a project in 2024 and it only ran on Windows so I updated to unlicensed Windows, and slapped that on a spare 120gb hdd, and did my deed, and man it is SO SLOW. A project that should take 10 minutes takes 30 minutes by the time it boot and stops updating or doing whatever it is.

I know I know, why not get an SSD and do Windows 11. Don't think my 2014 can handle Windows 11 and really, no interest in it anyway.

I am quite happy with Mac OS and Linux for my modern needs.

I know, long story. hahaha.

I hope to never boot onto that 120gb hdd again but it is there for the Zombie Appocalypse.

Vortex works well but I can't select for example 360p by default or something else.
It chooses the format it likes the most each time.
I use it with qemu and also with WinUAE.
@Petrol a few years ago gave me a script to use with YT and with AIO in which before opening the video I could choose the format to use, it is not possible to include an option similar to Vortex.

My nickname mcleppa, I can tell you the story behind it! I have always been interested in motorcycles, therefore my nickname start with mc.

´leppa´is the norwegian word for lip. I don´t have any beautiful or fantastic lips or anything, but many years ago when doing maintenance on one of my bikes some gasoline was pumped out of the carburettor which was of course going straight into my face. At the same time there was an igniton spark from the electrical system which ignited the fuel. This fuel was of course in my face. Result was burnt eyebrows and a very swollen upper lip

From this day and onwards they called me mcleppa, and I have used the nickname ever since!

Just some fun facts

Here is a practical example using Emotion-Player in streaming.

I imagine that the author of Wayfarer "jacadcaps" for Morphos will not mind if I put the link here since it is in the public domain its link for M3U8 .

Here is the streaming on TwitchTV with Emotion Player and I can for example select the format I prefer.
360 480 720 etc. depends on the power of the machine.

It would be ideal to do it with Vortex.

This is what I mean for the resolution of Vortex videos.
In practice I can't choose for example 360p even by changing YT.
I am wrong in something because either you can see the video very large or very small.

Selecting default resolution or no default resolution does not change anything.

Will make more about AirPrint as new features come about.

Printing .JPG as example would be nice as maybe we can print photos that way.

However, I noticed that many instances are not available and do not play.

Video Vortex will also support MPlayer in the next version with high and low resolutions for low CPU load. Otherwise, with the next version of YT.Rexx you can also determine the resolutions yourself via Emotion, I have already tested the beta and it works well.

Would this work on a Ubuntu 23.10 system?

My main work PC is a 2014 Intel 4770 based Ununtu 23.10.

If I can do this xrdp server with apt-get I may try it.

As I don't command-line much in Ubuntu, what would the exact Apt-Get be to do this from terminal.

Maybe I will give it a go.

Anyway, with apt-get the command line is "sudo apt-get install xrdp" as xrdp is what the package is called in my repository with the description "xrdp - Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) server"
