Shutdown>Restart OS issue (X5000) (SOLVED)
Quite a regular

See User information
On my X5000 I can no longer use the Shutdown>Retart Amiga OS feature.

My X5000 came installed with AOS4FEU2; the issue was present even then. I wanted a clean install from scratch for myself anyway. As I built up the install I tested this feature at various times and it worked. Even after installing the enhancer 2.1 files / radeonRX and installing the RX card it all worked.

All I know is that in the last few hours I have made some GUI/Workbench prefs tweaks and that I have installed the Z-TOOLS. Now, when I try to "restart AmigaOS" I just get a black screen saying that there is no input.

There seems to be some issue here that does not happen on my X1000 and I am not sure what it is.

What is the equivalent command to "Shutdown>Restart AmigaOS" that I can run from shell and/or can I get any serial output when I try this.

Trying to figure this one out.

Okay,

reboot fast

is the equivalent command.

I really do not want to spend another half a day installing things one by one to figure out where the conflict is. Let's just see if I get anyone else having encountered the same issue before I force myself to do that. Not having this ability will get annoying, quick.

It's an issue with the RX cards..
They don't respond to a soft reset!

Hans explain everywhere many times (but that maybe be missed of course) that newer gfx cards is not designed to have soft resets at all, and he tried all possible stuff he can think of without success. If i remember right even with RadeonHD it was kind of "luck" but not more than that.

In other words new cards mean no soft reboot for us anymore. Theoreticaly some devs says it possible, but the only one who working on drivers are Hans, and he tols that from his pov and skills is unpossible.

That's all I needed guys. Thanks for the input. I'll mark it as solved.

I get different behaviour between:

1 - Choosing Shutdown->Restart Computer
vs
2 - Cntrl+LAmiga+RAmiga.

1 works okay,
but 2 will just restart with a black screen and no output. Here is the relevant part of the serial log with debuglevel 20 (no debug kernel):

I never changed the name of this icon. Actually, I am running a 560 RX Polaris 11.

I also have "AmigaKeyRemapper" running to swap functionality of L and R Amiga keys.
