Heh, I would have been an Amigan since 1986, had I had the money to.
I bought an A2000 at the earlyest I had enough to buy it with, which was 1989. I would have been devastated if I had gotten an A1000 as it's not nearly as expandable as an A2000. The A2000 and A500 were the first acceptable user systems ONLY BECAUSE they were much chaeper and easier to expand.
To this day, my favorite case design is the A2000. But, the Amiga Phantasy is excellent now, as because so much more can fit in a small case, it isn't as important to have destops anymore. I keep dreaming of a near fully solid state Amiga except for a DVD-RW. And I'm not talking about insanely expensive SSD, but sockets inside and out that can have multiple CF and/or SD cards plugged in. Four or 8 CF or SD sockets inside that read/write across 4 SD cards, basically RAID to get throughput as high as any hard drive available.
Near instant boot, and even not as much need to use the RAM: drive too, freeing up memory for applications. Although, using the RAM: drive will lengthen the lifespan of the flash memory.
