AmiDVD 1.53 window message
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
Hello everyone,

I've now switched to making my system backup with AmiDVD because it's faster than copying the system 1:1 to another partition.
I noticed that if there is no CD/DVD in the drive, AmiDVD always opens an additional window, which really annoys me.
The AmiDVD tool type says "WINDOW=>NIL:" but this window remains
Is there still a way to suppress this output, even if there is no data medium in the DVD drive?
FYI, I connected my DVD burner to a sii3512 controller.

@McFly
A lot of CD and DVD drives have bugs in their MMC command implementation and for example return wrong error codes, I need the vendor and drive name from the 3rd tab of AmiDVD to add it to the list of drives with broken firmware in AmiDVD for which workarounds are required.

same issue here.

my Samsung drive w/o disk inserted reports nothing in the 3rd tab.

when I put a DVD, it displays (no window output at this point) :
device : vsata.device unit 1
fimware date unknown MMC-5
serial number R93E68DF802X2B

drive is reported as TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-224DB version SB01 in mediatoolbox in p50x0sata.device (I never got why I have vsata and p50x0sata.device pointing to the same drive even with a fresh install??).

The idea with the vsata.device and p50x0sata.device was that the vsata.device is used to talk to the OS via mounter.library and allows file systems to do their thing. The p50x0sata.device driver will be used by lower level tools.

Hi,
I have the same issue with my DVD drive/burner.

Media Toolbox says:
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH23NSD5, Version LV00

AmiDVD shows:
Device sii3114ide.device (yes, I connected my DVD to a SII3114)
Firmware date: 2019-06-12 14:59:
Serial number: KLJLBOG3400
MMC-5

In read/write everything is checked but for
rows RWDL and MRW.

Thank you for the info.
My drive is from Hitachi-LG, and i connected it to a sii3512 controller.
I receive the following outputs

via AmiDVD:
Firmware Date: 2019-06-12
Serial Number: KLRLBOG3355
MMC-5

via DevInfos:
Vendor Ident: HL-DT-ST
Prod. Ident: DVDRAM GH24NSD5
Prod. Revision: LV00
VendorSpecData: C011202 KLRLBOG3355

I hope this helps
