AmiUpdate and newlib.library....
Just popping in

See User information
Hello!

It seems I have a problem with AmiUpdate not listing any AmigaOS related updates. It only list 3rd Party things like AmiSSL and IBrowse. I've been talking to people on the Amigans Discord about it, but it seems they are as puzzled as I am.

Apparently I have an older version of newlib.library (53.62) and others in the Amigans Discord confirmed that they see an update to that in AmiUpdate.

I do not. :(

I have registered my copy of AmigaOS 4.1 (AmigaONE X5000) at Hyperion (it is listed as a registered product). There is a popup to use a username / password and when I use my username / password there is no difference. I have noticed that it is this server that wants a username / password.

update.amigaos.net

If it is not my registered username & password that I use with Hyperion, what should I use?

I also have a problem like this only with a copy under Pegasos 2.
I have the product visible on my profile in Hyperion.
I thought I was using the wrong login.
I typed in the login from the site , email address and nothing. In the logs it pops up a message about lack of authorization.
When I need help I usually write to the software manufacturer with the problem.
I sent a ticket in April to Hyperion ... say "ill try to get an answer for you. May take same time".
In May I repeated the question ..nothing.
I am generally patient, will send again in September ;-D

I don't know if the problem is the same as yours but it looks the same.

It seems it is not connecting to hyperion for you.

A better error message would be good.

You need to remember your login details.

EDIT:
Actually... I am not sure about that reading the log again.

You need to manually edit/create the authentication file. There's a bug in Amiupdate which stops it creating the file. I'll have to have a look to see what it is called.

The name is SiteList, and it is found in the main directory of AmiUpdate.

I do not have such a file in the AmiUpdate root directory.

edit:

I have also created an empty "SiteList" file in the root directory. Still does not work

My SiteList file contains the following:

AmigaOSUpdateServer
MyHyperionUserName
MyHyperionPassword

Where, of course, you use your actual user name and password. There's a return at the end of each line.

This issue has come up before, see post #8 et seq in this thread. Creating a proper SiteList file seems to solve the problem.

The tool still needs updating to tell you in a clearer way whether your credentials actually worked for logging in.

Thanks for the info though.

I also get a few error messages with AmiUpdate, but I get updates via the Hyperion Entertainment server. The connection to the amiupdate.codebench.co.uk server fails every time. Is there a way to solve this problem?

It looks from your log like there was a problem with Rigo's codebench server or its network connection at the time you tried.

I just did a search with AmiUpdate, and it connected fine now, so try again.

You are right, it now works again without error messages. Thanks
