Hello all

I have finally got AOS4.0 on an A1200T running Now, what I need to know is, How do I get the secondary channel on the IDE-FIX Buffered interface working, plus, How Do I get the 3COM Etherlink III PCMCIA Lan Card Working and get the A1200T on the net?

If you can help, its appreciated.

AFAIK it should work automatically. Only during installation the adapter has to be removed. After installation it should work.

Install the 68k driver.

Use the network wizard.

The idefix buffered interface HAD to be plugged in during install, I didn't have a choice in it. However, it still doesn't see the secodary drive (which was not plugged in at installation)

I'll look on Aminet for the PCMCIA Ethernet 68k drivers.

Are you using a mediator PCI board?

If you are, there is a chance that using PCMCIA will force you to reduce the mediator graphics memory window to 4mb.

The Mediator when set at 8mb uses the memory address space that is used by PCMCIA.

This conflict has resulted in awful memory trashing on my A1200T BPPC running os3.9 BB1+2

Sorry, Should have said, No Mediator. A1200T PPC/BVision 128mb + IDEFIX and PCMCIA Card Ethernet Card.

Forgive me for being thick here, but did the classic version have a native version of IDEFIX on board or are you expected to use the 68k version?

No, don't do that, instead get the OS4 beta ones.

When installing OS4 there is a flag you set to let the install configure the IDEFIX. You can still configure/add it to the system at a later time tough...

From memory somewhere in the "kickstart" directory there is a text file that tells the miggy what options to configure the kickstart with. The wording is something like "atapimajic" or similar that you simply add to this text file, and it will automatically configure the IDEFIX board on each boot. You should be able to find the exact command to add (just as I did), by going through the files in the kickstart directory area for information. From memory it wasn't that hard to find what the command was. If you need help, I could always look it up for you...good luck...
