Is anyone using a compact flash card as a hard drive on their Sam440? Is there a noticeable speed improvement over a normal hard drive?

Yes, I am aware of the search function.I have downloaded and viewed a number of demos programs produced using HollyWood, as well as viewing the demo screenshots on the HollyWood producers website. Thankyou for the links you supplied.I have a general idea of what can be produced using HollyWood, BUT, that doesn't really answer my question as to how it compares to other similar programs, does it?

I've never really tinkered with HollyWood 4 or similar programs, on the Amiga, PC or otherwise, but for some reason am interested in purchasing and tinkering with it.Comparing to similar programs on the PC, how powerful and PRACTICALLY USEFUL is HollyWood 4?

Thanks for the replies...
Yeah, as stated, I think it is probably a lack of audio connection on the CD/DVD drive. DVD's play fine, but without any sound too.
I will check the drive to see if there is any audio connections on the back...

Even after fiddling with AHI prefs (but not really knowing exactly what I am doing) I can not manage to get any audio when using "PlayCD". Other audio output such as module playing, games and so on works fine.
How do I get CD audio?

I'm loving using my new SAM :)
I've been downloading a few programs to allow me to backup a DVD video and then burn it to a fresh disc. But, I've not had success yet...
What software/combinations of software are you using that works?

@rude
Yep, new SAM user...upgrading from 1200/ppc, and not regretting it one bit :)
@slayer
Yep, you're right. I was trying to use the dialer setup...and...it's now working! :) I just forgot about trying to setup the connection, reset the SAM and went straight into IBrowse (which I am typing this from) and voila! Now working!

I've set up a "new connection" through a SAM ethernet port, using a broadband DSL modem. I have defined the userid, password and so on. When I go to "test this configuration" I get the Grim Repear! Can anyone step me through setting up the connection please?

@Mikey_C Quote: Mikey_C wrote: How do I get the secondary channel on the IDE-FIX Buffered interface working
When installing OS4 there is a flag you set to let the install configure the IDEFIX. You can still configure/add it to the system at a later time tough... From memory somewhere in the "kickstart" directory there is a text file that tells the miggy what options to configure the kickstart with. The wording is something like "atapimajic" or similar that you simply add to this text file, and it will automatically configure the IDEFIX board on each boot. You should be able to find the exact command to add (just as I did), by going through the files in the kickstart directory area for information. From memory it wasn't that hard to find what the command was. If you need help, I could always look it up for you...good luck...
