LHA - Bug during comprehension
Quite a regular

See User information
Hi,

I documented the bug on OS4Depot, but I'll do it as well. Anyone know who or how to contact Sven Ottermann?

---------------------
BUG REPORT:

Strange problem, reproducable everytime. On Sunday I compressed my application Jack using LHA:

lha -e -r -H0 a Jack.lha #?

There are bunch of files which been corrupted during compression, if I use lha l Jack.lha, I see the following results:

6703 6663 0.5% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
6685 6643 0.6% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
6876 6828 0.6% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
7075 7036 0.5% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
6719 6677 0.6% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
7149 7111 0.5% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
6540 6501 0.5% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
7001 6963 0.5% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
7109 7076 0.4% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
6998 6957 0.5% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00
8723 8704 0.2% 00-&¾ÓJan-80 00:00:00

Now when the user comes to extract the archive using Unarc or Lha x these files do not extract at all.

If I use -H1 or -H2 all files are compressed/extracted correctly, but I need to use -H0 to retain spaces in filenames. In the end I zipped the archive instead.

To reproduce this simply search for Jack on here, download the ZIP, extract it to RAM and then compress it using the arguments I gave at the beginning. You will notice it won't work correctly with the 'flags' directory.

Anyone wanting to download Jack 2.8 can now do so from OS4Depot, I've compressed the archive as ZIP instead. See upload queue if necessary.

The Flags directory is now included in the ZIP, LHA was not able to handle this drawer for reasons unknown - bug reported above.

Here lha works just fine, also with the data extracted from jack.zip. And I did not need -H0, although using that worked also.

Repackaging your ZIP into LHA worked just fine here, everything's ok. I'm using (and my DOpus as well) "lha -ar a". Doing this for ages now and never had problems...

By email. Or he is on Amigaworld sometimes, can't remember his username though. Email is probably better.

No you dont. You just need the fixed LhA XAD client or decompress using the LhA command line tool.

I could not reproduce the bug on my system. The results which are posted by you looks like from an outdated lha-version with year-2010 bug.

which lha version did you use and on which system?

And btw:

1. It is not best idea to post a possible bugreport only in one forum. You can not expect that a developer reads every forum dayly.

2. You can find my emailadress in the guide file.

regards
Sven Ottemann
