Just popping in

Hello!
Mplayer runs in OS4 Classic?
I've tryed it and the console runs ine but can't open the window.

Says:
blablablalba .......

Unable to open a window
FATAL: Cannot initialize video driver
FATAL: Could not initialize video filters (-vf) or video output (-vo)

Any ideas? Im in a A4000 PPC with a Cybervision ppc in 1366x768 16bit

Thanks for all!

Are you using the GUI?
Try setting the video output to SDL

on sdl it is not even 2 times faster than a 68k-gl port on 060. is there no usable driver? there are videoplayers for wos that do better

You want MPlayer to use strommesa to output a video?
Why? Where is the advantage?

i only compared mplayer port on 68k that happens to output video through mesa to the os4 port. os4 version performance on 150mhz classic is really poor compared to native players, and it is very difficult to find out right settings. i do not now if other display modes would perform better if there were any implemented (like picasso pip), but sdl seems to be very slow.

p96pip is implemented.
Do you use the newest MPlayer version? The one from OS4Depot is old. You can get the latest from http://www.amigasoft.net/pages/mplayer/mplayer.asp

And you could give the MPlayer GUI a try:

Thanks, with the GUI and the letmotiv version runs fine in SDL mode.

I can't get it running in P96-PIP and/or window mode, only fullscreen.

Is that normal? CybervisionPPC supports PIP ??

With SDL output ets really slow, DVplayer runs better for me

pip doesnt work here, maybe i need to set another colour depth or maybe the elbox drivers fail. dunno.

I had exactly the same issues with OS4 classic and Elbox drivers.

Don't think it was any better with the native drivers but can't be sure.

DVPlayer was much better speed wise for me also.

MPlayer plays just fine in default window mode on my 233mhz PPC. It did great when I was running through a Voodoo3 (then the unlikely happened, when installing something I accidently clipped the video card and broke a transister off) and then just as good but not quite as fast using a Cybervision3D.

In SDL mode it was basically crippled.

You probably need to do a little more reading about P96 and your board

yes surely CybervisionPPC use PIP

Thats crazy, the flag ship graphics card and it can't do PIP. I guess the programmer didn't have access to a board or had no feedback or help from users that did.

very sad

Its very sad you dont know the technical specifications of your graphics card.

The permedia2 does not support Picture in Picture or Overlay in hardware.

On Cybergraphics they used the 3D capabilities to simulate a Picture in Picture by using triangles.

Simple as that...

What's sad buddy is you're talking to the wrong person in the thread

that's what happens when people only read so much of it

I allways was thinking that the permedia2 supports overlay because I was in Cgx4 since P96 for 68k doesnt support bvision or cvisionppc.

I never had problems with the overlay of the video players in os 3.9

It doesnt support overlay in the way most other gfx cards do it.

the Cybergraphics team used a neat trick to emulate it, i think they used 2 triangles they draw with the 3d chip.

You should ask Frank Mariak or Mark Olsen they know how it works.

For this to work on OS4 it would require using Warp3d for example.
