Hi people!

I want to install Windows 3.1 if possible with Dosbox be 0.70 or 0.72 that are the two version I have.

How can I mount the C: drive on the emulator?
Can I mount a CD drive? How can I use a CD Rom on Dosbox?

I have a lot of abandonware games downloaded of the 80s and early 90s specially and somes needs Windows to run or something similar..

I want to hear your ideas.

I want to install Windows 3.1

Go to a Windows group, not an Amiga group. How about searching Yahoo Groups and ask there?

I have only used DosBox to run some games.. i never tried to install Windows.. try to read the docs of the dosbox and configure a C partition and mount a CD-Rom.. then if you have the floppy of Windows 3.1 run them on the dosbox and they should install windows in your C partition.. but that' s only an idea.. i never tried before..

...then if you have the floppy of Windows 3.1...
The last time I used Windows 3.1 was in 1998 on a 66mhz x486. Used Works 2.0 mostly. The installtion was a dozen floppy disks. You have to know MS Dos 5.0 very well to navigate around the system. I don't think there's too many people who would want to bother with this old system.

I had mounted a C drive on Dosbox but I don't know remember
how to activate it.Yes I have to mount a CD-Rom.
Some games doesn't boot because they request some Win.32 driver
or similar.
Anyway I can try to search on google but I am asking here how to mount
a CD-Rom with this emulator.
If it is complicated I will try to do my best but first I
prefer to search information on an Amiga forum than another.

The mayority of the PC games runs but others needs installation
and I believe Windows 3.1 can do the work,I have it on a
CD.

I have some notes on my notebook from here I think, but doesn't
work yet.

Dosbox I think is capable to run early Windows versions.

The CD dir is D:/ what's the commands needed?

What are the steps to run a CD on Dosbox?

Mounting a drive in DOSBox is very simple. IIRC it is something like (haven't done this in a while so it may be incorrect):

mount c: path:to/dir

You can use more or less the same command for cd:s as well (assuming you have copied the files to a directory somewhere) or you can add some parameters to the command to make it act more like a cd-rom.

Just read the documentation that comes with DOSBox.

Also you can add commands to the end of the configuration file so that they are executed immidiately on startup.

Hi @salass00

Just read the documentation that comes with DOSBox.

I did 10 times, but it didn't help!

DosBox.config boots up fine on :
mount c "myDOS-c" , but fails on any cdrom try:
mount e: cd0:
This fails when Ados tries to assign itself to itself.
Do you got some better script language?

Don't know about DOSBOX, not tried it

But under DOS 6.22 you need MSCDEX.EXE in your C:\DOS\ <dir>
and also a CDROM driver in C:\DOS\

Edit your Autoexec.bat file add add the line

C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /L:E

Edit you config.sys file and add the line

DEVICE=C:\DOS\CDROMDRIVER.SYS /D:MSCD001

A common DOS CDROM driver was the OAK one (OAKCDROM.SYS)

Thats how it would work under 'real' MS DOS you'll have to experiment with dosbox.

-edit-

Just read the rest of thread, after your last post, looks like dosbox will do it for you then, but the above is useful if your have pctask4.4 and want to install win3.1 from CD.

With PCTask use the following in your config.sys

DEVICE=C:\DOS\PCTCDROM.SYS /D:sii0680ide.device,1 **

(** replace with your device and unit)

A1XE, A1200T, X1000, X5020, CDTV, CD32 , A500+ A500
OS4.1b / OS3.2b

I take note of the commands and maybe will try it later

I already have PC Task 4.3 I think with Windows 3.1.It has various configurations to start Windows. All in all they were 5 options to start Windows under the emulator.

The problem is that I have thre MS-DOS 6.22 disks but my Amiga One doesn't read floppies even when FD0 is recognized by AmigaOS at least in the early startup menu.

I posted this on Amiga World but the problem I think remains.Yesterday I changed the boot priority of the Sys: partition to 6 because time before the priorities was setted 6 for OS4 and 5 as default for FD0.

Can anyone say me what's going on with my FD0 drive?
