New LightwaveRTG for Amiga with RTG and Amiga NG.

I know what I am going to be doing this weekend! :)

For ages now I have relied on trickery to urge LW into mostly working on my RTG Miggies. It'll be nice to put away the bag of tricks.

First remember remove lightwave and modeler entries in ModePro.

@kikems I haven't had he opportunity to try yet, but is the Modeler screen public? Part of my modepro setup was to make it public so wondering if modepro (or screens) will still be needed for that? If so, any chance it can be made public by default?

AFAIK, there is no need to use anymore modepro tool.

But if you need continue using ModePro for other apps, remove lightwave and modeler entries.

Thanks, I set the ModePro entries for LW to do nothing. This RTG version seems to be working very well on my X1000 and I will do additional messing about with it during the weekend. My X5000 is suddenly refusing to boot so I need to troubleshoot that too this weekend before I can put this LW there. And I will see how this LW-RTG edition works on my Amiga 500 with a Vampire board inside too.

I have not used my Amigas too much recently, but this project may have supercharged my interest in them.

EDIT: I am really liking this on 1280x600 on my Dell U2410 monitor from the Vampire's HDMI output. The program seems speedy and looks great. It is possible to run out or RAM for generating the wireframe preivews, looks like, at higher screenmodes and color depths. Think I will try this 1280x600 resolution on my X1000 instead of 1920x1200 tried before. The old LW interface is hard on my eyes for reading the button text at the higher resolution. Am having fun!

@davec555 preliminary testing shows Modeler is not on a public screen by default so modePro or some other commodity would be needed to promote it to a Pub.

Now modeler use Layout screes resolution, usually use modeler launched trought layout not launch directry ( launch only modeler app was a solution for reduce ram use when you use on Amiga 2000 with 8 Mg, of course now you not use a limited confing of basic A2000 wiith ocs and only 8 Mb )

Original Lightwave use anim preview in a bitplane format with 4 colors at pal or ntsc size. Now you are using 24 bits screen at HD resolutions in chunky mode, of course you need a lot of ram to make anim preview uncomprese in ram.

Tried it in OS4.1 Upd3.
The fonts is not correct, so texts extend beyond the buttons.
It was the same with the original version and I used Prefs/Screens to force the use of Topaz 8.
Is it a known problem?

Yes it's a know problem, you can use jabirulo patch or change your system locale with another language without € support.

You can also use the Screens prefs and set the topaz 8 font to be used always.

LW newbie here. Thanks for this, it makes getting started easier.

I seem to have an issue that in RECORD I am unable to get Render Display to change to anything other than 8-bit HAM. It seems to change on screen, but when starting the render I get a warning and then an Error "Can't open HAM screen."?

Thanks for this Great Work! There are a few classic Amiga programs that just NEED to be updated for modern Amigas/Vampires/etc -- and obviously Lightwave is one of those that just need this care, so thank you SO much.

I've downloaded and un-LHA'd onto my V4 Ultimate and that seemed to go all fine. It looks like I should just have to set a screenmode in LwRTG-ScreenPrefs and then after that, looks like I should just have to double-click to start LightwaveRTG... but nothing seems to happen. No error, no nothing.

*EDIT: OK, it seems that LightWageRTG is a script, and that's trying to call Layout.fp which says it's "Not an executable" I guess? Modeler.fp does run if I open Programs and click on Modeler.fp diectly -- but Layout.fp doesn't.

Any suggestions? (BTW, it's been decades since I've done much with Amiga, so I've undoubtedly forgotten most everything I've every learned... so could likely be something simple/stupid I'm not doing!)

Perhaps layout.fp has lost its executable flag? Did you try right clicking on the file select information and checking if the executable attribute is set?

What AmigaOS distro you use?.
We tested on Vampire and Vampire standalone with AmigaOS3.2.x and Coffin. Not tested with ApolloOS. We found rare working on AROS.
If you use Coffin or AmigaOS3.2.x try download again lha.
