I would like to thank Capehill because he did numerous investigations and work on SDL3, based on tracking the slowdowns of the previous version. This version is a little bit faster. Try it and let me know what do you think.
Thanks for the new version of LiteXL.
Regarding the speed with SDL3.x, I can tell you that it runs quickly and without any significant lag.
Absolutely. And thank you Capehill for mentioning this. I am using the profyler a lot, and it helped on finding the parts that needed optimisation. Really crucial software, which is also included in the latest SDK 54.16
Thank you, msteed for developing and sharing this app of yours.
Thanks for the update George. Is it possible to set the keybindings for copy, cut and paste to use the Amiga keys? I tried pressing RAmiga C and the keybind just comes ups as C.
After updating from Version "2.1.3r1" to "2.1.8r2" i get the following error message within LiteXL window when trying to drag 'n drop files or a whole folder into the editor window:
"LiteXL2/data/core/rootview.lua:327: bad argument #1 to 'get_file_info' (string expected, got nil)"
Yeah. This is a bug coming from SDL3 that was not supporting that feature when the editor was compiled. Later Capehill fixed it but LiteXL needs to be recompiled. It is in my todo list.
Yes, I gave Pragtical already a quick shot and gained some impressions. I like Pragtical's requester when dragging a folder into the application window and asks how to handle the drag 'n drop actually. The subjective performance was also quite impressive! However, I haven't yet migrated my personal customizations I've done to LiteXL nor have I had any serious sessions yet with it. Regarding the recent version of LiteXL, I must admit it has become a pretty useful editor on OS4. Large files (5k LOC) are no problem and I like the proper "Find" feature.
Thank you so much for your work on these editor series!
Thank you for your feedback. My plan is to keep updateing both of them, and the improvements I made for pragtical being migrated at some point to Lite XL as well.
I am glad you find them useful. Thank you for using them.
